When We Get Everyone Back This Should Be Our Lineup.

Post#1 » by HornetsFan29 » Sat Oct 21, 2017 12:54 pm

PG:Kemba/Carter Williams/Stone
SG:Monk/Lamb/Bacon
SF:Batum/MKG/Graham
PF:Frank/Marv
C:Howard/Zeller/O'Bryant

infact I would go ahead and start Frank now over Marv cause Marv not been playing up to par as a starter.

what you think? agree or disagree.

What's the logic on Monk over Lamb?

You have zero three point shooters on our second unit.

Marv can shoots 3s that is if he can get his shot back.

I think our 2nd unit is fine and can't wait to get everyone back cause it really killing our bench right now with all of players out.

I agree our bench will be vastly improved when we get healthy, I just think Monk is a better fit with the second unit.

Stone should be cut immediately. And what has monk done to move himself into the starting lineup. He's been awful so far

I'm not going to argue for Monk to be an auto starter, but there are some reasons why it might not be a bad idea.

1. Monk is used to being a starter. Coming off the bench is a different role. He might play better starting.
2. Getting PT is the #1 way for rookies to develop. Starters get the most.
3. He can pass better than Bacon and has more gravity that Bacon does currently. He could help with spacing and ball movement which will be needed with MKG + Dwight.

With all that said, I doesn't worry me that he's coming off the bench. I wasn't expecting a ton from him this year. He's young and I'm expecting 2-3 years for him to be 100% NBA ready as a starter, especially if we want him doing any sort of PG duties.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Kemba/Monk/MCW
Batum/Lamb
MKG/Graham/Bacon
Marv/Frank/JOB
Dwight/Cody

Seems boring and generic, but I don't see any reason to fiddle with the Dwight version of last years starting lineup until it actually proves to not be effective. If I were to change anything I would start with putting Frank on the 1st unit. The only big question for me is how you allocate minutes 1-3 on the second unit between Lamb, Graham, Monk, Bacon, and MCW.

I think it's going to end up being:

Kemba/MCW
Batum/Monk
MKG/Bacon
Marv/Frank
Dwight/Zeller

On the topic of starting Monk: He definitely does not deserve to start, but I do think it's good for him to play alongside the starters because he can get fed a few easy looks rather than forcing it so much. His best stretch against Atlanta, if I remember correctly, came with Kemba/Dwight around sucking up so much attention that he got several wide-open threes. I'd sub Monk in early for Lamb, try to let him get some easy ones, and then hopefully that will settle him down so later on when he's with the subs he's in a groove.
