Patrick Connaughton scored 24 points on 14 FGA against this Suns team, but we're supposed to be impressed by Lonzo's 29 points on 27 shots?

1- He shot 27 times to get his 29 points.
2- The pace was very high (94 shots, 19TOs, 33FTs for the Lakers), so the stats are incredibly inflated compared to an average game. You are talking about close to 130 possession for each team!!!
3- The Suns played atrocious defense, giving easy baskets after easy baskets. Lonzo went 12/27, and most of those makes were completely uncontested, often because of bad rotations.

So good game, I see the potential, but it wasn't as impressive as a 29/11/9 stat line would suggest.

I'm more impressed by Ingram finally showing something.

Misrepresentation?

Ball just took over the 2nd half and led the team to a damn win. Ball made 12 shots out of 27 which is good while dishing out 9 assists and 11 rebounds. Ball was the leader in all 3 categories for the Lakers. What more do you want to see from a 19 year old rookie in his 2nd game of his career on the road against Bledsoe?

Yes, misrepresentation. I put 3 reasons in my post. So why are you asking a question as if I didn't explain myself? Are you so conditioned with people giving an opinion without backing it up, that you act as if I didn't give the answer to your question before you asked it?

And your whole defense is just telling me his stats as if I don't know them. I put them in my post, no need to repeat them.

I'm not expecting anything more. I said he had a good game. But not all 29/11/9 stat line are created equals. Often this stat line will represent a great game, in this case, it was a good game (see 3 reasons above).

And he looks like a better prospect than Fultz right now, so you should be happy. I wasn't convinced at first that he would be able to have an impact in this league, but I now think that he will.

It's called not being good enough.

There's been three unanimous Rookies of the Year this decade alone, but sure, no other rookie has been "good enough" to put up those kinds of stats against a bad team.

Seems like a good kid and he’s much better than I thought he’d be. I agree with whoever said he looks weird out there - not awkward, but deceptively quick. But really fluid and obviously is used to putting up with crap and deals with it well. And despite saying stupid stuff all the the time Lavar actually seems like a good, fully engaged and loving dad. He needs more credit for that.
Thought I’d hate them but they’re growing on me. Will not buy the sneaks.

Seeing how good Lonzo is makes me sad that the Lakers are such trash.

Yeah he took a crap ton of shots to get it but he's a rookie, inefficiency for rookies that get major roles and can play through mistakes is nothing new, it's part of getting acclimated to the NBA.

Honestly there will be a lot of people that knock him regardless of how well he plays.

I don't mean to say Lonzo is bad. He's not. I'm just saying he has the ball in his hands every possession, something that almost no other top 5 pick in recent years can say

Looking forward to the 27 teams that are gonna destroy the Suns, with record breaking performances at every game.

Has Patrick Beverly ever in his career had a game close to what Lonzo did in his 2nd game ever in the league?

It's called Lakers wanting to feed their "Main Event/Attraction". Lakers don't care about growing and winning for now and maximize the talent and role players they have aside from Lonzo.
He's in special place. He's lucky. He can be hot garbage one night and have a chance to "redeem" himself the following night by chucking 30 shots.
Popovich would have sent him to G-league since the start of the season

Definitely some of this going on.

I was stunned how easy so many of those assists were. Nice for Lonzo to bounce back, but good lord the Suns are atrocious.

Looked like a 3on2, 2on1 drill out there.

Nope, he just played his 2nd career game and is 19 years old. Not much sample size there.

On the other hand Lonzo just displayed more basketball talent than Beverly ever has or will and he is almost 30.

EDIT* Well if you'd like to get technical, Beverly was 4/12 with 1 assist against Lonzo, so I change my mind. So, yes, Lonzo has shut someone down defensively.

It's his second game and he has he spotlight on him more than anyone else since maybe Lebron (this isn't a talent referral, just the attention they get), and sure he was a bit inefficient, but he looked good despite it being a poor team. Everyone plays poor teams sometimes and don't get that kind of line.

Well done. Anyone who isn't looking forward to more isn't a basketball fan.

Can you imagine how different this nonsense would be if you didn't even know his dad's name and he got drafted by the Kings?

He wouldn't be getting this much praise for 29 points on 27 shots against the Suns, that's for sure.
