Excuse machine above. Let me make it simple for ya.... Lonzo Ball exceeded Beverly's career high....period the end !!

Context, not excuses. But by all means, keep bragging that a #2 overall pick barely outscored the career high of a #42 overall pick. It just makes you look foolish.

Oh my.....you think too much !!

DLO as the #2 was still young and played on dysfunctional teams and it wasn't his fault.....

Ball as the #2 pick should held held to a higher standard, he played the lowly suns, he ain't good, passing is overrated.

Lol.

Russell as the #2 got nitpicked and scrutinized to an insane level and was unceremoniously dumped on the Nets after two seasons.

Ball as the #2 is getting fawning praise for putting up 27 shots against a bad defense.

Russell puts up 30 points on 22 shots: "So what? It's only the Pacers. Russell is a stat-padder."

Ball puts up 29 points on 27 shots: "Best rookie since LeBron!"

It’s crazy how many people hate on Lonzo and want him to fail because of his father

A lot of room for improvement, but still an impressive performance. He has a special feel for the game.

I like Lonzo fine. Will be curious how he does against Jrue Holiday tomorrow. Best defensive PG's last season went Chris Paul, Pat Beverly, Jrue Holiday. It's going to be another tough task.

Didnt think he'd be this good this fast, but towards the end of the draft process I couldnt decide between him or Fultz as the #1 pick.

Think he will put up (fantasy) Kidd-like #s this year, though I'm not sure he'll be able to win a ton with current Lakers squad. But sure seems to be the stud he was hyped to be

Any half decent player in the league will have an amazing performance against that abomination the suns call a defense.

Is lonzo a bust? Who knows. Is he as bad as he was vs the clippers? Prob not. Is he the next coming of Jkidd because of what he did agaisnt probably the worst defense I have seen ever played in my 3 + decades of watching the nba? no.

So are your team's rooks gonna put up these numbers against the Suns no problem? Can't wait.

Ah, my favorite counter when someone disagrees. The Lakers are my 2nd in queue on league pass because I am very interested in the progress of Brandon Ingram, so I will be seeing a ton of Ball this year.

Any rookie putting up 25/8/10 in his 2nd game is pretty good. Yes, the Suns defense sucks. That doesn't diminish an impressive performance, no matter how much you'd like it to. Ball has a good feel for the game, and his biggest questions will be his defense and his shot consistency. But he looks like a damned good player right now.

The fact is he is going to have a green light to do what wishes to do. It's basically his team to run so he has so much freedom that not every rookie will have.

I'm usually against giving a rookie that much freedom but his feel for the game is really natural, so I think it actually is best to just unleash him and let him learn by trial and error. Other PGs in the draft - specifically DSJ, Fox, Ntkilina, and Donovan Mitchell - should be held back a little bit more IMO. Fultz and Ball were the only PGs I thought could jump in headfirst to the NBA.

Why are you so defensive? I said it was impressive. I didn’t say anything about Lonzo being the next J Kidd

These haters will not admit it, but they do realize the next great one will be wearing a Lakers uniform. So they will downplay any achievement coming from this kid.

You can see that this kid has a very good understanding of the game. Oh and yes a good student too. Beverly gave him a tutorial on how to succeed in the NBA 101. The next night.....he is learning.

Oh, wait, silly me, we'll probably get four.

Yup, so we'll get a total of 12 or so for the year. Four more for each time they play Phoenix.

Did anyone even watch the game? There was no one within 15 feet of him when he was shooting 3 pointers. Literally no one moved when he ran a pick and role. Like, Bledsoe and Chandler were literally statues.

If the kid makes it I'll gladly eat crow, but this game doesn't mean ****. As I said, MCW had a near 20 point quadruple double in his NBA debut, how is he doing?

This kid has a passionate base of haters already while having such a quiet personality. That in itself is pretty impressive. He always says the right things and has always put the team before stats. A reporter asked him if he knew he was only 1 assist away from a triple double and he immediately waved her off, saying he doesn't look at his stats until after the game.

It's such an interesting dynamic how he can be so humble and yet so hated. Never seen anything like this, but all I know is it's going to be one hell of a ride following this kid's career. Love him or hate him, he has brought passion out of NBA fans. This is amazing for the NBA.
