Nashty & Cactus: Game 3 @ Clippers

Post#1 » by batsmasher » Sun Oct 22, 2017 4:35 am

Standings

How it works
Spoiler:
After each Suns game, an MVP thread will be opened for you to vote for your top 3 players. These threads can be created by anyone, as long as there isn't currently a thread for that game.

Anyone can vote for the 3-2-1 (including other fans from other forums) but you can only vote for the Suns players (or coach).

3 votes to who you think was a the best Suns player.
2 for the second best
and 1 for the 3rd best.

**EDIT: as of January something-or-other 2017, you can now distribute votes for the Nashty and Cactus however you please. You have a total of 6 votes to give out, but now you have the freedom to do what you want with those 6. The only condition which applies is no more than 3 votes can be given to one player (or coach) in either award. **

In the event of a Suns loss, you are also encouraged to vote for the Cactus of the game:

-3 votes for the player most responsible for the loss
-2 votes for the second most responsible
-1 for the third most responsible

Any votes with more than 3 players listed and not in the required format will not count. Voting will close before the start of the next Suns game.

After the thread closes, the votes will be tallied. The highest scoring total Sun gets 3 points, the next 2, and the third gets 1 point towards their season total. In the event of a tie in a count for a game, if the result of the game is a Suns win, a maximum of 4 players will be awarded points. A tie in the event of a loss will only result in a maximum of 3 players getting awarded points.

The player with the highest total at season's end wins the award!

The same applies for the Cactus of the Year, although of course the lowest tally at year's end takes it.

+3 Len - say what you want about Len, but he was effective as anyone tonight, getting to the line a bunch and hitting nearly 90% of his free throws, 50% from the field, for 15, 7 boards a couple of assists and a block. Normally this performance wouldn't be a +3 but it was such a bad team performance, it's hard to find + guys.

+2 James - I liked the way he played, and he ended up with 6 assists and a steal. He made some great passes too that were not assists.

+1 Chandler - Yes, he sucks defensively, but at least he pulled down a bunch of rebounds.

-3 Bledsoe - 4 assists, 4 turnovers, 4 points and a lazy game

-3 Booker - Not proving the doubters about how good of shooter he is wrong, shooting sub 40% on high volume and 0-4 from 3. Had been doing other things well in past games but not much else..a couple of assists but a couple of turnovers. If he wasn't healthy enough to play effectively he shouldn't have. The last thing we need is lingering injuries.

-3 Watson
-2 Bledsoe
-1 Booker

+1 Mike James, liked the way he moved the ball. Very little just holding the ball
+2 Bender, really liking his defenseman
+3 Len, had a solid overall game against a damn good front court.

+1 TJ. The only time we looked good was early, when the offense was running through TJ.

-3 Watson. This is unsustainable. He could be gone before the end of November at this rate.

I'm gonna throw in another +1 for Chriss. I did not like the way he played overall. Wearing your emotions on your sleeve out there, man. You gotta come back to the action quickly rather than pleading with the ref for mercy. Just stop it dude.

But I gotta give him this - he's showing the most important skills he needs to show. Shotblocking and shooting. He's knocked down his standing threes in rhythm. Very cool. And he's getting up for blocks defensively - cool again. But YOU GOT TO DO MORE WITH YOUR FEET DUDE. Use them to your position your butt in front of other players. Use them to beat people to spots. It's okay to get surprised and get thrown off LATERALLY on defense because even if you can't recover against that player you can often still get to somewhere useful on the court.

But despite this ragging, I got to give him +1. Marquese has shown he could be very good, IMO. We'll see!
