Why are you assuming I'm ignoring his mental health issues? If anything, I am saying his absence is not normal and the team should adjust his role on the team. And frankly, you have no idea whether what he is doing right now is actually more helpful than getting back into his daily routine. Sometimes, the longer you grieve, the more depressed you get.

Armchair psychologists shouldn't be diagnosing MKG's mental state or appropriate grieving process. Support him and let him be in charge of what he needs to do. Dude bears his soul for this team every time he steps on the floor. He's earned whatever he feels he needs to do.

Nobody earns anything beyond another human being. This will play out however it does, but 316's points are valid. I can cite numerous examples of professional players in various sports who played games even after learning of their parent's death. Yes they leave to grieve, but most often are back within days. If the Hornets have decided to let him take all the time in the world, so be it. Doesn't mean it's an acceptable choice for his team. Frankly it's good to see what we've got here in his absence. His return may not have the impact some think, which may tell us even more about his value and role with this team.

If that sounds insensitive, toughen up.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Doubling down when you are wrong will never make you right.

Cool that you feel that way. I think it's pretty silly, but you do you.

While the situation with MKG was definitely non-typical from what we usually see when professional athletes experience the loss of a loved one, none of us truly know the relationship and what it means to him vs what the typical grandparent to grandchild relationship means. We also don’t know how it impacted him mentally and the organization (and fans) should really support MKG and what he needs. Just my opinion on it.

What I found annoying was the lack of reporting on it. It seemed like nobody even announced he was going to be away or had an issue to deal with until days into it. Then it became mysterious and vague. Just seems like we lack reporting and information on this team sometimes. Whether that is due to the team withholding information or media coverage not digging in enough... well who knows.

I suspect the team asked the media not to report on this until she passed.

Now that he's back, Cliff will wait until he can work in some real practice time to get him acclimated with playing time (per Bonnell article). Interesting to see how this plays out relative to his impact on the court, and the blend with the new players.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Dumb. The guy has been in the league long enough and played enough preseason games there is no reason to hold him out
