Re: Around the NBA, 2017-18 Season thread
Can't believe Nawlins pulled that out. That would have been a bad look for them to lose tonight. I'm strangely pulling for them to be a Western dark horse.
For all the **** I'm giving Gentry, he at least seemed to have them playing a modern style tonight even though they have a more old school, throwback lineup.
I do wonder aloud if they are so poorly coached they just play to the style and pace of their opponent though and never really play their game or even have their own identity and style?

Re: Around the NBA, 2017-18 Season thread
I think Cleveland deals our pick (which at that point probably will be in the 5-12 range) as the centerpiece for Cousins. They'd probably also include Thompson or Love I assume for salary? Either way I think they will make the decision that whether Lebron commits or not, it's worth taking a run at 1 more championship since the pick will almost definitely not be in the top 3. Also winning another championship is probably the best chance they have at keeping Lebron anyway.
I haven't fully investigated it but I expect our pick will be the best draft pick owned by any contender and possibly the only lotto pick available for sellers, so if that's the case Cleveland should have their pick of the best players on the market.

Before Shake made that post, somehow it completely skipped my memory that they have our pick now lol.
The sad part about all this is, Boston pretty much still has the best future picks in the league, excluding teams' own picks. Them or Phoenix, though Cleveland is a close 3rd as of today.

Also, does anyone else remember when Jordan Crawford was a guy a few posters around here had a hard-on for and wished we drafted him?

to be fair the criticism was we should have taken him over me-shoot bricks. who is probably playing in china with marbury or something right now

Phoenix fans are in for a surprise when they get a meager ass return for Bledsoe.

Should Brooklyn get in on the trade? Maybe try to get him and Chandler.

i wouldnt mind that... but more for chandler. i wanted bledsoe before last season before we had lin and went super rebuild.
now that we have a million gaurds less so.
what would we give up?
I cant see a booker/dinwiddie/skil type packing even coming close and we dont have alot as far as expiring money nor do they need cap room

I think Whitehead just needs playing time. although who knows maybe they want the playing time to showcase him?

Just came here to say Brooklyn should try and get in on the trade. Not for Bledsoe, just for Chandler. What sucks is Booker would probably have to be part of the outgoing, that's why I see it as very unlikely.

yeah we dont have the cap space to facilitate without matching salaries now since we are tight to the cap. would need to be booker or mozgov and no one wants mozgov.
as much as i love booker and his hustle/heart i like chandler better who is also a big heart dude.
disclaimer: i dont watch the suns. not sure how washed up chandler might be right now

Yeah I'm more interested in Chandler too I'd see if they'd bite on a Zeller Killpatrick IW and 2 future picks. We can trade them the DPE I think too. Who knows maybe Marks can rob PHX in the daytime.
I want to keep this year's pick though the players coming out are supposedly the best in years.
Did someone here say they don't have flexibility to make moves?

I'm not on board with trading Booker to get a center. The frontcourt would still be weak because Acy would get more minutes and he's not as good. They'd have more rim protection but it would be fixing one leak just to let another one drip imo.

I would think chandler takes booker minutes and everything else stays the same no?

Watching the first half 76ers vs pistons....
Man, Van Gundys tenure in detroit has really soured my view on him as a coach. Literally all their young guys look awful, lack passion, and have not improved since he has been there. Drummond looks like the same lazy uninspied player with the same flaws. Stanley Johnson looks like the same guy with the same flaws. Reggie jackson has been hurt but hasnt really improved. Harris looks like the same guy as in orlando. KCP was pretty stagnant there for 3 or 4 years.
Embiid basically made drummond check out after a few minutes just by being physical with him.
Speaking of embiid. dude is a beast. withouth im on the floor they look alot worse. he is a difference maker

The DPE is a salary cap exception not a trade exception. the DPE can not be used in trades

We are 5.3 million under the cap. so if the player we get back makes more then that we would have to match salaries within 125%
Chandler makes 13 million, bledsoe 14.5
we dont really have a ton of options since we dont have the cap space to absorb much of those salaries and dont have many expiring contracts.
Booker is really our only salary that works to match and/or expires.
its that or like a 5 for 1 type trade but even then hard to add up salary without including someone like RHJ or Levet.
I also dont really want to trade future picks when we are just now getting them back
IT is tough for us to be a trade partner since our high salary guys are mostly overpaid guys on long deals and most of our low salaried guys are young talented underpaid players we'd want to keep.
we dont really have any of those in between or exiring deals

I'd pass on Chandler then and look for a center elsewhere or just ride it out.
