Re: Markelle Fultz Discussion II
I'm so shocked, I was told here he wasn't hurt.
Dude's been playing with one arm. I mean I could, along with plenty of us, say 'I told you so' but I won't do that.
Ok maybe I will.

can anyone come up with a few different injuries that would need drainage? I know bursa sac is one...
does this stuff happen with labrum injuries?
Yes it can, usually rotator cuff though, hopefully it’s just bursitis.

I stayed out of the shoulder argument because the idea that he would fake an injury was too absurd to take seriously.

I was right there as well and am actually relieved to hear this. This is not currently the same guy that was drafted. The only silver lining to me is that assuming he gets back to 100%, Fultz got to the rim or whatever shot he wanted without the threat of a jumper. Anyone that thought he might have trouble getting shots off against NBA defenders was also as wrong as I thought they would be. Now, just get the damn shoulder right and prove why you were the #1 overall prospect by pretty much everyone and Ainge can return to being the idiot that he is.

Re: Markelle Fultz Discussion II
No one with his skill set is going to regress so much without a reason. He showed his abilities in summer league. What adds to the matter is that he's not playing natural. Any injury that forces compensation makes his offensive game even more awkward. How do we go from being so careful to being so negligent. Sit him until he can lift his goddamn arms above his head and shoot the ball properly and with confidence.

The good thing is that shoulder injuries in basketball are not the killers they are in baseball, especially pitchers. Get it fixed, let him heal and to be truthful I was pretty damned impressed with his floor game and D when it was obvious he was hurt. No need for I told you so’s to anyone who just thought he was a bad player, this is entirely on the team, and let’s be honest, hardly surprising in the least given their Keystone Cops sort of history with injuries. Scott O’Neill and Harris are the worst, and Colangelo doesn’t have the nuts to stand up to them.

One armed Fultz, and Lonzo Ball, have almost identical shooting percentages

Re: Markelle Fultz Discussion II
he’ll be 100% and will be another weapon for the offense. it’s just too hard to believe that the sixers would be this carless with their future investment after the crap they pulled with embiid but im stupid i guess for agreeing with the organizations decisions to trot him out there with only 1 fully functional arm thinking he cant damage his bum shoulder any worse than it is.
i just pray for a full recovery and that we see this kid out there lighting it up this season. i love this kid’s heart and will to please his teammates, coaches and fans. thanks bro but shut it down and make a full recovery

Re: Markelle Fultz Discussion II
I didn't know what the issue was, but the injury was obvious. The only question to me was whether the injury predated the weird form, and I had seen no indication that it had. So I was thinking that perhaps the form was exacerbated by the injury instead of caused by the injury.
There is something obviously wrong with the shoulder though, and they might as well shut him down until they figure it out. If it isn't getting better while playing then it would probably get better faster by sitting out.
In the end, I don't really care as long as there isn't any risk of injuring it further by playing on it. In terms of his shooting I have always assumed that he will get it back in time. I mean shooting is his bread and butter. It is his number one NBA skill set.
Overall I'm actually ENCOURAGED by his early play because of his commitment and execution on defense.

This is a good point. Sign of character to go out there knowing you'll look goofy/bad, and doubling your intensity to do what you can to help the team.

You can play with bursitis. Don't know why you are asking for people to be fired over this (actually, yes, I get it, you all have PTSD from previous injury drama).
Maybe they just didn't want people to know he wouldn't shoot 3s to give him more room for slashing.

A few things on this story. You always have to know who it benefits. Fultz's agent told Woj. I think he's probably exaggerating to put Fultz in better light. I am not saying he's lying. I absolutely think Fultz had his shoulder drained and his shoulder has been sore and was affecting him but he said he can't raise his arm above his head? Come on. He raised his arms to shoot and get rebounds. He can raise his arms above his head because we saw it. The agent added that part to make it seem worse. But I hope they get this thing fixed and he comes back healthy 100%. I'd like to see what he can do healthy.

Re: Markelle Fultz Discussion II
Why didn't they let him heal his shoulder and sit out the preseason and some regular season games?
A healthy Fultz who misses like the first 10 games would be more useful, than a guy who plays every game but can only use 1 shoulder.

Maybe it's bone spurs aggravating it?
Haven't heard that brought up yet.

I'm no MD, but I do know several guys have played through it. It's actually the reason behind your very own AI's famous sleeve: https://www.newyorker.com/tech/elements/object-of-interest-the-history-of-the-allen-iverson-sleeve
