I was certainly not comparing him giannis or other top 10 talent. he is not.
it was more of expression of amazement to the fact that, even in an elite level stint of 3 games, there are still people finding his play meh, there were still people calling for trades in those very games threads shouting get his a** out of here. just because of the mere fact that it is him doing it.
Why wouldn't you call for trade now? This good start helps boost his trade value and we know for fact, with 5 years of trackrecord that you won't get anywhere with him being your first option on offense. It's just 3 games period, in mean time , to show how sample size is too small to care- Tobias Harris numbers: 24 ppg, 6,4 rpg, 1,7 apg ,56% FG, 47% for 3, 65% TS , so Harris is new Durant by same logic ?
Vučević is ok starter ( or great 6th man ) in nba, but he will never carry team anywhere ,and that's what he has been for Magic since trade from Philly years ago. .In mean time team went through worst 5 years in team's history with him as go to guy.You can try to spin that as much as you want, bu nothing will change that. His defensive impact, or lack of the same, his inability to draw fouls and shoot from 3 are well documented. Now, if he can shoot 3s he is more valuable, but it still doesn't solve other problems with him, along with fact that nba is today wings and guards oriented league where even best PFs and Cs can't do much to carry a team ( see Cousins, Gasol , Gobert, Davis, KAT.... ) to contending level, let alone player who is not their level.
That's not really cause enough to trade him though. He isn't a problem for us right now as he isn't blocking the path of anyone. On the other hand, I'd be open to trading anyone on our roster if it nets us enough value in return. I don't think that dumping Vucevic would be a difficult task if that were our goal. You can't really attribute our lack of success in recent years to Vucevic or his role on the team as we simply haven't had enough talent on the roster where any individual player's limitations are the limiting factor for team success.
If a team comes to you with genuine value, then you consider trading him. It only benefits Orlando if he continues to play well.
I think our brand of “shared ball” offense does a lot to hold down perceived value of players. Look at super teams that find a way to get near 20fgas for 2-3 players. We don’t even get there for one. Now that we’ve run through Vuc for the past 2 games, he’s been able to turn that volume offense into volume points, and he looks great as a result. I’m sure we could do the same for Fournier, AG and/or Simmons, too. Id like to see the team have at least 2 legit go to players that we know the offense will run through, so we can properly build off that for a change.
