It doesn’t make any sense. If it’s true that they hid this from the team then they should be severely punished.

Yeah, Fultz should be in deep **** if he had a medical procedure without team knowledge. I don't believe that at all given what we know but Fultz should fire his agent and entire inner circle if they steered him in that direction.

The revised ESPN story is more reasonable and cites it as a cortisone shot and not a fluid drainage. It says that 2nd opinions agreed with the Sixers diagnosis and physical therapy strategy. It makes the whole situation way more confusing tho. Is he still going to a specialist? Will he be shut down for now or is he going to continue the treatment course he was already on?

Agent revised the statement.

Said fluid was put in(cortisone shot) not taken out. He had a cortisone shot on October 5th.

Sixers confirmed this to be true.

My theory would be that fultz hurt himself doing something dumb->didn't tell the team->changed his shot to hide the injury->team found out he was hurt and got pissed->by that time he was healed but lost confidence in his shot and wasn't comfortable with his shoulder so now it's all in his head.

Seriously You'd think that if he was truly hurt that the team would be smart to sit him. It's not like he's making a huge impact anyways. When you have generational talents like Simmons and embiid you can live with him being out for all season if need be.

Just sit him and have him do rehab(more for his state of mind than actual injury) while seeing a sports therapist.

WOW. Now all we need is for it to leak fultz got hurt at chick-fil-a for me to be 100% right lol

I was getting ready to bash the medical staff but there's not much they can do if one of their own players is lying about his health smh

Btw cortisone shot helps reduce inflamation common in bursa issues.. im thinking since rehab was wwhat was originally prescribed that that is what he is dealing with.. he needs to be shutdown for about 2 or 3 weeks and he should be fine

Could be but it depends on why it’s inflamed, didn’t he gain some weight this offseason? I wonder if he hurt benching too much weight?

C'mon man keep up... the reason has already been found by a savvy investigative poster on here. He had an overdose of MSG from eating too much Chic Fil A.

Pretty crazy that the agent revised his statement that drastically. I mean in the first piece he was quoted directly with quotation marks using the word “drained”, and now he revises that to mean that he had fluid added?

Who refers to a shot as having fluid added to your arm? Woj isn’t likely to have misquoted him in the first article.

This doesn’t pass the smell test to me. I don’t know what it means, but something doesn’t seem right.

Colangello obviously got to the agent and got him to revise his statement. Saying that he is working with the Sixers and agrees with their approach is a gratuitous statement to cover his ass IMO.

Yeah, the update statement by the agent doesn't smell right. The phrasing of "adding fluid" just sounds like a really weak attempt to lie and do some damage control. Colangelo needs to address this publicly because right now everyone is freaking out and he's put Markelle in a really terrible situation.

I feel bad for the kid. He's trying to play through an injury for the good of the team and the FO is throwing him under the bus with no remorse.

I hate this franchise. They would rather let things leak out slowly to make them look incompetent than just release information.

Sixers medical staff sucks. We should know that by now, its not some special secret. There is no conspiracy, he's hurt, get over your own agenda.

We waited on Embiid and Simmons for years, we can give Fultz some time too.

They may suck but lets just follow things through from a logical standpoint even if Fultz withheld his injury:

A) Fultz gets injured
B) Fultz tries to hide injury brett brown notices his shoulder not being raised
C) Brett Brown talks to doctors
D) Doctors inspect Fultz and confirm he's injured. Know the problem and suggest there is no problem with him continuing playing
E) Doctors continue to monitor the shoulder regularly in case of further injury

What reports indicated before they were walked back somewhat

A) Fultz gets injured
B) Fultz complains about shoulder but says it's not serious
C) Doctors say he can continue to play but don't follow up or suggest treatment
D) Fultz decides to receive treatment on his own
E) Brett Brown and the FO continue to believe the injury not serious despite watching the same games we all are and are surprised he is getting treatment

I mean comeon man. What I think happened is his agent is kind of pissed at the heat his client is getting for well playing like crap and confirmed the shoulder issue. Sixers would rather keep it quiet because well teams knowing fultz can't shoot will effect how he is guarded even if it is an open secret.

That is the only explanation I have for the secrecy and not being honest. The problem is they aren't fooling anybody.

You don't need to figure out the reason for them withholding medical information. For whatever reason, they've adopted it as a guiding principle for the franchise.

I'm glad the Sixers sought second and third opinions. I don't like that this was basically kept mum despite the severity of the issue. I also think there has been some kind of jump shot form alteration that might be an issue moving forward, unfortunately.

If this injury is serious then they'd let him sit it out.

I also think this is a good news for atleast we confirmed that this is just temporary.

What I just didn't like was they should have been upfront. But then they might have been so but we just don't want to believe it so we long for more details.

ironically, fans now want to sit out players. I think they'd want the opposite if the team decided to sit him out early on.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Haha this pretty much sums up how I was feeling. I’m glad it is an injury. The alternative was that Fultz somehow forgot how to shoot a basketball.
