I'm very high on doncic nevertheless I think his transition will be rough because with his body he'll be defended by the teams' best defenders night it and out.

I wish the spurs could somehow get him.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Please find any quote saying that Bender and Hezonja were "legends". You are a liar and as such, you are worthless in this discussion.

Doncic is probably the best euro prospect of at least the past 10 years. Bender and Hezonja were never seen as such.

Does it mean that Doncic is going to pan out? No. But I'm sure you don't think that all tall American players will fail because some became bust. Am I right? So why are you being so lazy when it comes to Euros?

Wagonband wrote:People keep throwing the argumant: "well if he is that good, he has to be the best euro prospect ever". And that's kinda the point. He is. What he is doing is unprecedentet in european baskeball history. By far. Rubio avaraged 10/3/3 as a 21yo with a PIR of 10! Doncic is avaraging 22/6/4 currently in eurolague at 18. He is avaragin overall 15/6/5 in 25 minutes of play on a team as deep as Real Madrid, and he plays a lot of time off ball (comapred to rubio who held it every possession), and yet is superior in every single way.

So yeah clearly goat euro prospect, clearly deserves the hype. And stop comparing someone being the main player on a top 4 team in Europe to scrubs that were drafted because of their "potential", not their game.

There is simply no way to predict how good Doncic will be in the NBA though, since it's an unprecedented case. But i do believe his floor is extremly high. There's like 0% chance he will not be a borderline all-star baring no injuries

? Rubio came to the NBA at 20, and he never averaged those stats in Europe (he scored less, assisted more).

I agree Doncic puts up better numbers than Rubio, just think you got Rubio's numbers and age wrong.

As for GOAT Euro prospect, as great as Doncic is, the GOAT euro prospect -- that's Sabonis.

Possible but the reasons given don't necessarily add up to it being certain. I just typed this out in another thread but anyway.

The stats he's putting up in the euroleague are beyond impressive, the level of competition he's facing is miles ahead of anything his draft peers have face. he's clearly extremely talented and should be NBA ready when he gets drafted.

BUT however much weaker the NCAA is, it clearly has the much better record producing talent than other basketball system in the world, the NCAA has produced every top 10 player and about 90-95 of the rest of the top 100 ever.

So to doubt NCAA's ability to produce good basketball players is insane, thus you can't discount the fact that someone else in his draft class will surpass him.

I also do need to point out that because the NCAA system prevents young prodigious talent entering the league at very young ages we have a very low sample size of young players dazzling and then failing (though draft busts essentially fall into this category), in other sports where these aren't issues playing with adults at a very young age does not necessarily pan out to making the greatest players. there's been plenty of times in soccer where an 18 year old has played like a top player, only to eventually fade as they got older. Even sometimes players like Rooney, who were playing regularly at 16 in England's top flight, yeah, he became a great player, but he never really ascended to a top 10 one in the world and guys with slower development overtook him.

That said, I'd still take Doncic first, he's got everything, and anyone that doesn't is an idiot.

At 0:55, I love how he managed to make a good pass while falling and being double-teamed. And then he just gets up and goes grab the OREB. 2 nice plays in one sequence. Also, that dribbling move to avoid the steal 2 seconds in seems like an incredibly quick reaction to me.

I think we can agree that he's way ahead of the curve at 18. I still don't think he will get taken first (as of right now). Athleticism and size gives Porter, Bagley, Ayton and Bamba a higher upside. Right?

I must admit that I didn't see much of the other 4 guys.

RIght now Doncic is listed 5 in most mock draft. One of the top 4 will probably fall, but first seems like a stretch unless he develops even further and Porter and Bagley are disappointing.

Doncic reminds me so much of another little boy playing in Italy 20 years ago...
always with the smile on his lips, never angry with his teammates, serious, humble and with an extraordinary agonistic rage

I wish him the same career

He´s the best 18 years old player in the world, no doubt about it.

But, you draft a player depending on how good he´s going to be in the future. And that´s something nobody knows. If his improvement goes on at the same rate until he´s 21 or 22, he will be a perennial all star.

At the same age, before being drafted, Hezonja was better than Antetokoumpo. One has stopped his improvement, the other has gone beyond any expectations.

NOBODY knows how good Doncic will be. Right now, he´s a very good player; and an AMAZING player considering his age.

Bender was a rotation player for Maccabi and Hezonja was a rotation player for Barcelona. Neither of them played roles in their national team. Doncic is a key player for Real Madrid and was the 2nd best player on the Eurobasket winning Slovenia. What an utter joke of a post.

Calling Bender a rotation player on MAccabi is actually generous.

While everyone else is blinded by the Doncic hype, I noticed another Slovenian player currently playing for Real Madrid:
Image

6'11, condoresque wingspan, can step out and hit the 3, guard every position on the court.

Possible #1?

And doubt Doncic has any chance of being a franchise player, see solid starter at best, but he seems pretty cocky. Would probably run back to Europe to be a star once he realizes he can't be one here.

I was actually thinking for months now that I'd draft Ayton before Bagley and it's not because I wouldn't like Bagley. I just like Ayton more. My draft order at the moment would be Doncic, Ayton, Bagley, Porter. They are all great picks, though.

I don't follow ncaa are there any sure stars in this draft? I mean Durant, or AD type of talents? If so you take them first no question.

If not it depends how risky you are, I would have gone with Donsic. I don't think that he will be a superstar but barring an injury he has 0% of bust probability. He will be a very good player. His basketball iq is of the charts, he can shoot, pass and rebound and at 18 he has played at the highest level. My only reservation is his nba position, I don't think he has the speed to play guard so he will probably play as point forward where he will lose the size advantage he enjoys now.

Yeah, comparing 28 years old Anthony Randolph to 18 years old teenagers... If you have to win a game right now, you pick Randolph before Porter and Bagley. But 18 years old Randolph wouldn't play for Real Madrid. You are making a very weird argument.

Where is the down vote option? Do you even know anything about the two players you are talking about? Have you even seen Doncic play and the level of competition he's doing it against?
