Re: Otto Porter Part 2
Wall isn't going to keep shooting this poorly. I don't want him settling. I want him to strive to be an MVP caliber player on both ends.
I think ALL our guys can get the shots they need/deserve as long as the rotations are right.

Well, in either case, that's last season's news. No sense debating the past. Let's wait and see what happens this year.
So far this year Wall is taking almost 18 shots per game with an efg of 40.6%.
Porter is taking 14 shots per game with an efg of 57%.
Wall's issue is that he can't hit the broadside of a barn outside of a layup or free throw. His mid-range has been ghastly thus far. I literally remember him making only two jumpers so far. One three and the tough contested fade-away late against Denver.
Wall has historically started out slow to begin each season. Generally by December he's operating on all cylinders.
Just out of curiosity I went back and looked at the shot charts. I couldn't find on for the Detroit game but for the other two Wall was 2-17 outside the paint.
Good point about slow starts.

Wall needs to realize he isn’t Westbrook. Taking almost 30 FGAs in a game is unacceptable, like he did vs philly. I’m happy about the obscene amount of ft shots, maybe this is the year he gets the superstar calls.

It really is amazing how efficient he is and how well he stuffs the box score. I've never seen someone post a PER that high on only 15 shot attempts per 36 minutes.
I like that he is averaging 4 more shot attempts than he did in each of the last 2 seasons. Hopefully, he can boost that even more.
Actually, both his 2 point % & 3 point % are slightly down from last year -- but on 35% more shots! All his extra shots are 2-pointers, btw. 3 point attempts are actually just slightly down.
The result is that he's scoring 30% more points & still at a very high TS% Even more remarkable: he's getting 2 & a half times the steals of last year, almost twice as many blocks, almost 25% more assists, & 47% more rebounds. Whoa!!!! To show he's human, Porter's turnovers are just slightly up.
Yes, he's our best player so far. In fact, Porter, Gortat, Mahinmi & Oubre deserve the credit for our fast start. Neither Wall nor Beal have hit their stride yet.

Yeah Porter has been playing the best. Weirdly enough though, both Wall and Beal are averaging a slightly higher win share per 48 minutes than they were last season.
For Beal, he's averaging 5 rebounds per game, 1.3 blocks per game, and averaging 9 free throw attempts per game. Wall TS% is still at 53.4% compared to the 54.1% last season.
Wall has been shooting poorly from the field but has been getting to line at an insane rate. Wall is also averaging an insane 1.8 blocks per game.

Yes, this is the worst Otto Porter we have seen this season.

How many times have we seen him running late game isos that lead to mid-range bricks? Too many to count. I have seen enough of the prevent offense.
Teams are more than happy to let him take those late game jumpers. Beal would be a much better option if we have to run a late game iso.
I didn't see the 2nd half last night but I didn't need to. I have seen this movie before.

Wall missed 10 of his 11 shots. I think his game is becoming too reliant on free throws, if the officials don't blow the whistle, he looks terrible.

Re: Otto Porter Part 2
I really wonder if Wall will ever accept that Otto should get more shots than him. Especially after his offseason comments about Otto. imo, this is one of the things that NEEDS to happen for the team to reach next level.
Otto isn't a spot up 3&D player, he is unstoppable with the ball in his hands, he's a true scorer. He needs 16-18 shots every single night.

Considering Wall said Otto was the most improved player on the team yeah, I think he'll figure it out.
Building that trust is a process.
It'll happen though.
President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

How nuts would it have been if we landed Durant too? We would have had a forward rotation of Durant, Porter and Oubre. We could even play Durant at center for stretches and get them all on the court at the same time.

5 games into the season, Otto Porter ranks 9th in the league in VORP, 13th in WS/48, and 16th in PER.
Other surprisingly high ranking players include Clint Capela, Steven Adams and Evan Fournier. They're all in the top 20 in all 3 categories.

The people who are still skeptical about Otto don't care about any of that. The only thing that might sway them is that Porter is averaging 19 ppg.

Capela is on his way to becoming the best center in the NBA. I got the rockets beating GS in the WCF.
sidenote: Fournier would be perfect on this team

Capela better than Karl Anthony Towns or Boogie Cousins? I don't see that happening.

I don't look at either of those two guys as competition. Rudy Gobert? maybe
