Sap, DC, THJ, Teague, Korver, Al not doing well, will help Hawks

Post#1 » by atlantabbq99 » Thu Oct 26, 2017 5:38 am

Millsap, DeMarre Carroll, Hardaway, Teague, Korver, Horford are all not doing well since leaving the Hawks.

Will this stop other teams from over paying current Hawks members as other teams will realize that alot of individual success has alot to do with Budz' ability to put players in a good situation and Budz' system?

Will this help the Hawks in retaining future prospects without over paying them?

DeMarre is having a resurgence so far in Brooklyn but that only goes further to proving the system has helped these guys. The question is how come players aren't clamoring to sign in Atlanta to push their career...and their bank account.

Oh they will...start coming..I remember telling myself that in 89....94.....and many other years. I honestly feel like we are cursed for some reason. Now we have a top notch facility and all these shiny new toys as an organization and an owner who seems like he wants to win and a GM who seems to be pretty bright and has worked under the wing of guys like Jerry West and Don Nelson before that.

It just seems like badmouthing the Hawks is a trend that is passed on generation after generation...from superstars in the 90's like Barkley and Shaq to guys like Durant and Dwight (in his prime).

At some point it's gotta turn around. I think we get our superstar in the next draft and land a huge star in the summer of 2019 or 20. I'm still a belieber...

Agree with Mace.
1. DMC is playing better this year so far, Coach Kenny is the man. Toronto just wasn't the right fit ffor him, plus they played him too many minutes and while injured.
2. Teague in Minny next to Butler is a problem - Jimmy feels like he's the pg and running the offense leaving Teague the scraps and Teague's defense has been horrible (so says Minny fans). Towns is a bad defender. Thibs...mmmm???
3. THJr - wow

4. Korver - Cavs not playing well at all, for him to do well the best players have to play better
5. Millsap - what is going on in Denver? I think Jokic is too concerned with making a highlight pass and they are still not defending
6. Al is the Al we know.

What am I missing here? Granted I haven't seen much of them play but Teague had a solid year last year and career high in assists. Sap and Teague are both now 5 games into meshing with new teams. Horford was Horford only with a LOT more assists and went to the ECF last year. KK is 36 years old and shooting 52% from 3 so far. What are we using as a benchmark here.

Hardaway was always wildly inconsistent and basically had a good 4 months here with the Hawks in 2 years so I'm not surprised that when he's not on a functional team he looks bad.

All are not what they use to be, except for Al, he is still a quality center, but it is obvious that he is on a shallow decline and has lost something since being an all star a few years ago.

Poor Timmy turned to garbage. NY is where basketball goes to die. How long is it going to be called the Mecca...?

I think Timmy is a good player and a really good system player, its not really his fault that they gave him a dump truck full of money and have him playing in a street ball system in the pros. Put him in a discipline high basketball IQ system like the Hawks, Spurs, or GSW and Timmy goes back to 15ppg

Teague's biggest problem is that he has always been passive. I don't think that JT has lost any speed or skill, he just needs a coach like Budz to support him and his skill. Thibs is not a players' coach and that's why JT is going back to being passive again.

Yet another reason why I hope Coach Bud stays here a LONG LONG time. He's done nothing but overachieve with the talent he's been given since he got here. Imagine if we give him some actual elite talent in the coming years (Doncic/Ayton? Klay Thompson?).

Leading that team in rebounds, blocks and PER*.

(*Leads rotation players with a PER of 20.4 through games played 10/26. Yabuschele has a PER of 28.6 but has only played 5 minutes.)
