Free Buddy Hield!

Post#1 » by LightTheBeam » Fri Oct 27, 2017 5:50 pm

I don't understand what is going in Coach Joergers head.

Buddy was playing great last night to start the first quarter. He was a big reason we jumped out to an early lead. He benched him and didn't put him back in until less than 2 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter. He scored 12 points in 19 minutes on 5/9 shooting...

Why isn't coach playing him more?

Id like to see our roster go as such

WCS (28) / Randolph (10) / Koufos (10)
Randolph (18) / Skal (26) / Jackson (4)
Bogdan (24) / Vince (10) / Jackson (8) / Temple (6)
Hield (28) / Temple (14) / Hill (6)
Hill (18) / Fox (30)

Id really like to see Vince and Koufos on the bench completely but coach won't allow that. Either way Hield needs to be playing a ton more! Whats the deal Kings fans...

I want to eventually see the minutes of Hield, Skal, and Fox reach that legit starter plateau of 35 mpg. That's was true starters do. Not this mid 20's garbage.

Bogdan and Buddy two complete different looks. There’s room for both to play big minutes on this team. Bogdan is much stronger than I thought and can match up with 3s. Buddy’s taken his defense up a few notches and is an ultra competitor

Wrong idea. The idea should be Bogdan + Hield. Maybe one day they'll figure that out.

I don't know what's going on with Buddy. I think he's not comfortable in his new role this season. Maybe he's struggling to get into a rhythm because this team has bad ball movement.

He's in a funk for sure. I think Joerger is using him quite different this year in some ways. If you notice, most plays he has him come off to the right of the PG and he's mainly being used as a passer to the other wing off of a screen to the middle of the floor. I'd like to see more staggered screens and even some more pick and roll play for him. The problem is that the Kings aren't running too much pick and roll at all. The attempts to run a high post/low post motion offense maybe should have left with Cuz.

Vivek projected him to be better than Steph Curry and I just think the pressure from those expectations are finally getting to him.

To Joergers credit I think he's attempting to expand his game. He's shown more passing at times, better defense, etc. When a coach changes up the way you've played your whole life it can cause things to go way out of sync. His confidence is shot. I also think getting back into the rhythm of the game has been tough for everyone but Bogdan who has the advantage of having had like a 2 week layoff between his Euroleague career and this one. I'm sure as the season goes on he'll eventually tire out, otherwise he's a machine. By then his teammates better be up to par so he's not on an island by himself when he needs them.

I don’t think he has been put in the best situations, but it’s like SacKingZZZ said, DJ trying to expand his game as well.
Get Fox in pick and roll situations with Buddy and Bogdan playing with him and these guys will look a lot better.

Can someone explain to me why hield is avg only 22 mpg? Hes one of the core players for kings future and hes playing less minutes tgan rookies lonzo and kuzma. I can see why his play has been up and down and hard for him to get in rhythm when his minutes have been so inconsistent.

Because luke Walton is a much brighter forward thinking coach.

I'd rather have 3 wins and have had the rookies overcome to get those wins than watch temple and Randolph playing 35 minutes a piece to beat the bulls by 1. It's an absolute travesty

Has Hield been a disappointment? I thought he'd for sure play more than 7 minutes

Hield has had some unreal games, and the next game he throws a bad pass and he's stuck playing 15 minutes and shoots 5 times. I'm sorry but this is turning into one of the most egregious rebuilding coaching jobs the Kings have had since the 2006 fallout. It doesn't seem to matter who owns the team, who runs the team, or who coaches the team, it's like they are continuously mired in some middle build purgatory.

Can you imagine if the vets were treated like that? Randolph and Temple would constantly be benched for some of the dumbest/laziest passes ive seen.
