Wow...other than one clown...this is the most positive thread I have seen in a long time...if not ever!

I can't say enough how excited I am for the future. We waited MONTHS to see this kid play. All of the hype/hope/hate has been answered to some extent. He looks like a solid pick with high upside. No one can look at this game and think anything else. No normal person at least.

Jeff has been reading this forum. He did everything we have been talking about. He coached a very good game tonight. He played all of the kids except Baker(ankle injury).

I don't know where they learned defense all of a sudden but, that was a solid team effort. Frank had a lot to do with that. I am stunned at the effort they played with tonight. Jeff holding Kanter accountable sent a message too. Nice job.

KP looks ready to be the man. Really having a great season so far. Can't say I'm pleased enough at this. I had some reservations about him being able to be the man. He is proving to be a solid stud.

FMFNB! PMFJB! Frank/Baker/Dotson/KP/Billy are all Phil Jacksons doing. He traded Timmy away so...that needs mentioning too. Keeping all our 1sts. Driving Melo out. This rebuild is all his doing. He was bad at almost every aspect of his job. I am glad he is gone. I have to give him credit as the best FO to date since Dolan has been involved. Best drafts in decades. Best handling of our picks. Left the team in the best shape since the Ewing draft.

The process is just beginning. We appear to have a solid foundation to build on moving forward. Jeff has to prove he's worth keeping. The development of these kids is all he should be focused on this year. After thosr first 3 horrible games, this was a good sign moving forward. Hope to keep improving.

I think you guy are a little too excited after the Knicks first win and a decent game from Frank. However, I can understand after some criticism from fans towards Frank, but its still just 1 decent game.

If Frank has a bad game he is a bust, but when he has a decent game, he already the rookie of the year according to the homers. I would hope that my lottery draft pick can at least score 9 points a game. Listen, I can understand the excitement for Frank after a bad start since being drafted, but it's only one game. A player CONSISTENT performance is what determines how good he is. I'm VERY HAPPY that Frank had a decent game. However, he still needs to continue to improve on the offensive side of the ball, but for his second rookie game after being nervous, he did pretty well. I just hope he continues to improve, but most of all, I want him to be mentally motivated by the fact that he wants to be one of the best point guards in the NBA and an All Star one day."

My advice to Frank is to continue doing what is does best in terms of defense and assist, but take more HIGH PERCENTAGE SHOTS to improve shooting percentage. I know what he can do on defense, I know he can shoot, and I know he can pass. If he continues to improve on offense the Knicks will have a special point guard. As for me, I'll start getting excited when I see double doubles and triple doubles. 8-)

That photo of Phil Jackson on a cross is EXTREMELY disturbing. He is no Knicks savior and he is definitely not my savior. He doesn't deserve such an honor. He doesn't deserve to die like Jesus Christ.

My night went like this. Go out for Halloween and miss game. Get a life all of you. :)
I get a text from my brother saying Frank is the truth. I do a quick score scan and my first thought is wtf happened to the tank. Then I see his final numbers and I am just like lol 9pts 5asts 3tos. GTFO with he is the truth ****.

I get home watch the highlights within 10 seconds I see the pass he made to Kyle and yell oh **** as I do when a sick dunk/play happened live and got all hyped.

I just saw his defensive video too. The kid was injured in that first game. Because he looked like a damn veteran outthere. So composed. Smooth as hell. So cerebral. The plays he made. My goodness.

My first thought after watching his offense and defense highlights was "we got the best player in the draft".

And with that who wants to serve me my crow?

PS. Our tank is ****. This is why we can't have nice things.

He will have bad "shooting" games or he will be in foul trouble by the refs vs some random star player.

But what I am hyped about is not any of that. It is that he has skills you can't teach. His composure. His ridiculously high bball IQ.

He is making the right plays and impacted the game WITHOUT THE BALL IN HIS HANDS. Just on the defensive end.

If we by some chance still get a top 5 pick. You know what NOW I can be on board of picking up Doncic and playing him at the 2 or 1 guard position with Frank. YOu know why because now I can put Frank on the best player of the opposite team and hide Doncic on his biggest weakness which is defense. Now I can have two uber high IQ bball players in the backcourt making everyone better. Hitting the right passes and not think that we may have a breakdown defensively.

Those are things you can't teach. Very very hyped right now.

True but if we play just the kids I can't see them winning more than 25 games. If we miss out bc the kids played well then so be it. If win games because Jack, Lee Noah, Kanter, Beasley play a major role, then we have a problem.

   Good on you.

A lot of us that lived in the draft thread were trying to get across that this is how dude played in his league's tournament last spring. He put up modest numbers but the team was just MUCH better with him on the floor due to defense and heady play. They lost a lead in the final game because he got in foul trouble at the end and was taken out (his biggest flaw, it seems). And he wasn't really allowed to play unbridled for that team. Now he is, and the offense will come.

Frank is going to be an impact player, hands down.

respect for not hiding like all the frontrunners who only show up when frank is injured. you were critical about frank but you did say some nice things about him after the live scrimmage and had more of a wait and see approach.

I liked the Jeff hire. He's on thin ice with me but, if he can get this kind of effort and play the kids instead of the bum vets...I'm ok with him. He did a decent job getting minutes to the kids tonight. He didn't ride KP either. If he doesn't let these kids run...even when losing....I'll get back to you on Jeff.

Like I said...he was bad at every aspect of his job except the draft. This rebuild has his fingerprints all over it. With all of the lunacy that was Phil...the team is in a great position going forward. This is the best job any FO has ever done. It's funny...but true. Glad he's gone. Hoping Perry is competent.

Oh also in all the Frank love I forgot to say. KP making that 3rd year leap is sooooo good. I think because of his defense he is better than Towns. Yeah I said it.

Here is the think about Frank's defense that I love, and this has been consistent from since he was in Europe...

Yes, he definitely impacts the defense when he gets steals or absolutely envelopes smaller guards. The thing about NBA players though, is that even the worst defenders can make the right defensive reads/rotations if given enough time. It's usually not that they are incapable of playing defense, it is that they are incapable of making the right play at the speed that the NBA is played at.

This is where Frank will make a major difference, because when he's defending at the point of attack, even if he gets beat, he doesn't get beat easy. Frank will almost always give the ballhandler a bump, or make him take a wider angle, and forcing that extra step will allow the second line of defense that extra half second to read and rotate. Even tonight, Frank's play allowed the Kanters and Beasleys to find their way to the right spot on the floor on defense.

I'm very excited to see this kid grow with us.

Speaking of Phil, I was thinking that its too bad that Phil cant coach anymore, I think a good triangle team that we could have put together this summer is:

Cousins/Willy
KP/Anthony Randolph?
Doncic or Knox/McDermott
Dotson (if he becomes what we think he can be)/THJr
Frank/Bonga?/Baker

Phil would have been able to get the best out of Cousins, could have made that a contending team I think. I put Randolph there because I think his skillset/athleticism might be perfect at the backup PF spot, he also has chemistry with Doncic already plus we would need another Serbian on the team so Luka wouldn't be lonely ;) .

Return to New York Knicks
