I can't believe Towns has been shat on so badly this season for his defense. Like people are actually saying it's so bad he's a negative on the floor, and for all the **** we give KP for not wanting to play center, Towns is so bad he actually can't. Didn't see that coming.

Watching KP makes me very happy.

My Alpha comments stand.
You don’t become an Alpha in 4 games in which one of them you looked like trash as the lead.

It’s an 82 game season.

You also said THjr was not a bad contract so there is that.

He even just drops it and walks up court like he knew exactly what he was doing. Frank is like, "wha? you want the ball?" and instinctively gives it to him. Then after LFT drops the ball and goes upcourt Frank still doesn't understand and puts his arms out asking for an explanation. That's next level OG isht right there.

I'm might have to take back all the bad things I said about lance

That's a team turn over so it wouldn't have been given to Frank. (Rookie mistake by Tommy Beer). The only thing that makes sense is Lance making sure Frank didn't throw up a shot for respect reasons.

people should have had more confidence in CGjr though he knows what he's doing.

Saw Frank play a lot of games in Eurobasket. His effect on his team there was much the same as his effect on the Knicks last night - he had great court vision that sparked the offense while his defense upset the other teams' offense so much that he came from a bench role to getting major minutes. Because he earned them.

So this is not new to us. We just didn't have enough basis to know if this would translate into the NBA game (seems it does) or if his rookie's lack of experience would sabotage his game as he developed (seems his mistakes are real but not overwhelming the positives in his game). Expect to see lots of rookie stuff, but also expect to see him develop a lot more because he's still so young. And good looking in every basketball sense of that word.

Bill Pidto wrote:Phil was awesome in my eyes. I'll always appreciate his tenure and remember it fondly.

Honestly, some of the best things about him were his brash personality and willingness to toy with the NY media. If you ask me, the Knicks needed someone like him to cleanse the franchise. Now, everyone's on their best behavior. He sacrificed his "legacy" to rebuild the team because he knew it was the right thing. So I laugh at anyone who says he came here to collect a check and simply didn't care. He cared enough to do something no one else ever had the balls to do here, and now we're all better off for it. Talk about a legacy.

Him tearing teams down to tank for lottery picks, getting screwed in the draft lottery the first time and still turning the pick into absolute gold, and very possibly the best player in that draft, is nothing short of heart-warming. Then for him to hit this last pick with Frank out of the park like many of us now suspect he did... to me... was all well-worth some of the heartache the fickle NY fans were forced to endure throughout his tenure. It was all worth it, and it's a shame there were so many who couldn't see it that way before they became so emotional.

The biggest mystery that remains to me is Melo's NTC. I know that wasn't Phil's idea, and I know he couldn't have been happy about it. I hope he writes about it all one day.

Agreed to all said here.

The ntc was or was not Phil, but by going to war with Melo he forced Melo out and a new dawn in.
Noone but someone with Phil Jackson's credentials could of challenged a well liked all-star vet like Melo who was armed with a NTC.

Given that Phil took a bullet for the sake of the franchise, even the haters have to admit he left the franchise better. After witnessing last night, now all of us are happy bout it. Even the Phil haters.

correct, he got a promotion too. He was orignial a scout and special advisor to Phil. Now he is VP of Player Personnel

Phil still needs credit because it still takes stones to make the picks where there were more fan friendly picks available...but he trusted gaines and gaines hasn't disappointed yet.

You talking about DSjr? Because the KP draft didn't have a consensus 4th pick.

Gaines disappointed with Ndour and shot in the knee.

For what it's worth, Frank's defense could allow for a combo of less silly PG/C switches, faster defensive rotations due to his wingspan, and better individual man-on-man defense.

I'd be curious to see the overall defensive metrics of some of the players who play on the court with Frank over the course of time. Especially Kanter. I'd like to see Frank and Kanter out there and see what happens on pick and roll defense. He never really dealt with a defensive stalwart at PG while on OKC (Russ while good is not great, Roberson doesn't switch with Kanter on P&R, Adams is a C).

Challenge what? Melo is a player under contract. Treat him as such. Only the Knicks blur the lines.

Phil didn’t take a bullet. He had a job to do and failed.

no one has a 100% hit rate, especially in the 2nd round! He also took WHG in the second round too...he absolutely should have gotten the benefit of the doubt. We have a strong scouting squad.

anyone who makes personnel moves based on fan opinion is wholly unqualified. we think we have more influence than we do. we think we have more insight than we do.
