New fan to Boston

Post#1 » by Moose23 » Sun Oct 29, 2017 2:18 pm

Have been a fan of toronto since mj retired

But the current state of the fanbase has forced me to switch teams.

Hopefully i will fit in with a more reasonable and classy fanbase over here in boston as the raptor board is far to insecure to be able to take any sort of criticism to, well, anything.

Anyone now a boston fan that used to follow other teams?

Good on you for seeing the light and welcome to the board!

I'm a Celtics fan for life but rooted for the Pacers when Bird was coaching them.

Being an atlantic candian, Boston is actually the closest team to ke anyways. Lol.

I used to watch boston back in the bird days but gotta admit i was more a fan of mchale

Man had a million post up moves and imo was comparible to hakeem with the way he moved in the low block.

Welcome.

In my mind, the only reason to start rooting for a different team would be if my team doesn't exist anymore (e.g., Seattle Supersonics).

Wouldn't finding a different Raptors discussion forum be more reasonable for you? If one day this Celtics forum becomes unbearable*, I would just leave the forum, not switch allegiances.

RealGM is the largest Raptors forum.

Nothing wrong with switching teams imo, for any reason, as long as you stick with your new team. I would never do so but im not going to judge anyone for it.

I definitely would have bounced from Pittsburgh to another team after the Roethlisberger stuff. Thankfully, Brady/Kyrie would never do that.

They are all the same. And the team is sooo hard to watch.

Iso iso iso iso.

Found myself watching other teams more than raptors games and last year really enjoyed watching boston games. Then the changes in the offseason and the current state od raptors future and fambase just fed me completely up.

I only started watching them once mj retired cause vince excited me. Its been too luch a chore to even be a fan over the past 7 or 10 years

Free Agent Fandom signing, wont dig into our fan cap space too much. Good cheap fan signing, quality fan minutes off the bench. Just do what you can do and be an allstar in your role and that's cheer for the C's

Celtics fans in general are very "conservative" about fandom.

Basketball fandom is much more fluid than other sports. There's legions of LeBron fans, Jordan fans, Kobe fans, etc.

Welcome! This board has some great nuts and bolts bball discussion, and finds a way to string out pretty mundane aspects of the Celtics season into multiple threads.

Horrendous reason to switch allegiances to a team. Nothing egregious there. You switched because you got bored. No respect for that at all.

And right on cue, the bit about the Celtics fanbase being conservative about fandom! Its watching adult men play a game, not war.

It's all relative, man. I'm a Patriots/Celtics/Sox/Bruins fan and I've been spoiled all my life with an intelligent fan base and winning teams, but I'm mainly talking about the former.

Have you actually read the Raptors forum? It's unbearable and their fans are like that in real life as well. We can't even begin to put ourselves in this guys' position. I'm not going to judge him personally.

It's important to have a good culture from the owner to the fans, otherwise you see **** like this happen.

Of course it isn't a war. To even make it a comparison like that is stupid. But to switch the team you like just because you are bored with them is stupid. And you'll feel the same way when he jumps off the Celtics bandwagon eventually too. No respect for something like that. Just say you are a general NBA fan at that point. At least you can respect that. But switching teams is pathetic.

more than bordeom, It complete disdain for many moves as well.

Signings, trades, etc on top of playstyles added to the fanbase is just too much.

Found myself defending Boston on those boards more than anything else....so then I just realized that I liked the celts more....
