Game Thread 10/29: Pacers vs. Spurs

Post#1 » by boomershadow » Sun Oct 29, 2017 12:46 am

The Pacers (2-3) will play host to the Spurs on Sunday. The Spurs have been playing without Leonard, who is recovering from a right quadriceps tendinopathy. Coach Gregg Popovich said Wednesday it’s possible Leonard could return in early November. Parker, the point guard, ruptured a tendon in his left quadriceps during the Western Conference finals, and has begun practicing with Austin, the Spurs’ G League affiliate.

Pacers center Myles Tuner has been ruled out of Sunday’s game with the Spurs with a concussion, which means he will miss his fifth consecutive game. He has not played since the season-opening victory over Denver Oct. 18.

The Spurs also got routed in their previous game, so you know they will be coming in with the motivation to redeem themselves.

If the Pacers can win this one, it will be amazing.

A Colts game, immediately followed by a Pacers game. Not a bad Sunday.

I can't stand Gregg Popovich as a person, so I hope we lay a severe beating on the Spurs.

Can they really stop giving faults for cuddling ?

Sabonis did bite on that pumpfake though, and held Gasol a little bit. It may have been a bit ticky tack, but still a reasonable foul call.

Sabonis has got to stop getting into foul trouble. It happens every game.

He is absolutely killing us by being on the bench.

He needs to be more passive on defense to start the game (at least in the first quarter). It seems like he's always playing in that grey area between a totally clean defense and a foul.

Rather let Aldridge score than get a foul. Atleast while Turner is out.

What about Pau Gasol as a comparison for Sabonis? See any similarities?

Not really.

I mean, they can both shoot and pass, but Sabonis is much more physical.

Pau much longer, and I think more skilled overall. But Sabonis is probably more mobile and more physical. Sabonis' post game might also be a bit better, just because he has those hook shots with either hand. Pau has never been efficient with hook shots.

**** off Stephenson.

Way too early in the shot clock for a ****ty *** shooter to be taking long twos.

Lightning Sabonis, when playing and when fouling :)

He will get at better it, the important thing is that lot's of centers, traditional and modern (Towns), struggle to defend him :)

Didn't get, why Sabonis was benched after he scored long 2 and then 3 ?

Coach wanted to protect him from picking up the 3rd foul. There was only a minute or so left in the quarter.

Probably to avoid unnecessary fouls at the end of the quarter. With Myles out it seems that the team is on a different level with both Sabonis and Oladipo in, and we need them in the second half for as much as possible.
