So who are we?

Kirk cant win any game of importance.

the one thing about Kirk is he never gives up. He just kept trying to get that INT to close out the game- the threw 2 that got dropped but he kept fighting and got that INT to close out the game. :(

We have the makings of a good team.

Though the QB is a huge question mark.

Given the Slurs’ injury situation, three division losses and upcoming schedule, it may be time to tank. Take Barkely, Rosen or D’arnold. Let Kirk walk and distribute his $24mm among multiple players.

I'm actually fine with this strategy. Add more depth/lock up players on our defense which looks like it could be our winning identity. Our offensive line when healthy has looked elite and we've uncovered a weapon with Thompson. So essentially the Cowboys model, but with a better defense.

Am I the only one who has no patience for the sport anymore? I'm not saying I won't catch a good game, but it seems the injuries in this league are becoming so much worse than they were a good ten years ago. It's like you never get a chance to see a team at even 80% these days. Combine that with the fact that this team can build anything good to begin with, meh.

I only caught a little of the Seahawks game, but between taking care of two 7 week old puppies the skins looked bad on Offense but good on defense until end of the fourth quarter then they did a role reversal. Lol

Skins end a tough part of the schedule 2-2. Going in with the injuries I thought this was the best we could hope for. Could have easily gone 1-3. What happened to crowder? I was surprised to see deangelo hall return punts.

With the reduced role of prior & injuries to crowder maybe Doctson can breakout at WR... Great catch here to help win a close game.

Doctson can out-jump guys, and there he dives for a catch that basically won the game. They need to go deep to him more often - and that's going to open things up over the middle. Of course, part of the problem doing that has been the injuries on the O-line not giving Cousins enough time to throw deep. Quick also looked good on 2 catches. I'm not sure adding more WR's at midseason is a real smart idea. Throw more to the WR's they have. Helluva job by Cousins on the last drive.

Seattle also missed 3 field goals but hey prop to Redskins for somehow getting that TD at the end of the game.

It wasn't pretty, but it was exciting. I will take the Win. Not sure this is a play-off team given all the injuries, but they are at least competitive.

The problem with the skins is that they are just average everywhere, or even where they WANT to be above average, like the offense, the output wasn't great. Last years skins team given the offensive pieces should have resulted in a 30+ TD QB season and 30 ppg as a team, but we ended up with 22 ppg, Kirk ended up with sub 30 touch downs.

Now, we let our best receivers go for the sake of more balance, it worked, but we got worse offensively and better defensively--result is a trajectory of another 8-8 kind of season, +/- a game.

My mindset is--if you don't have a QB that can clearly carry an offense, then you need a dominant defense. It's really just that simple. Kirk is a great QB for a team that has a dominant defense. You can win a superbowl with him at QB behind a dominant defense. Behind an average, or below average defense? Or even just a "good" defense, not great, you aint going far in the post season with him. Occasionally, if absolutely everything goes right, all the stars align, Kirk might have his Matt Ryan SB season. Matt Ryan is a guy who was clearly above average for many years but never sniffed the playoffs until the season where he out of nowhere put up 38 TD's. It's no coincidence that that is the year where the Falcons made the SB.

My point is mostly this: If we can pay Kirk what he's owed and build a dominant defense, then keep him, otherwise might as well dump him now and build the right way, or at least have a chance at a Carson Wentz kind of QB through the draft.

Unfortunately we’re stuck in the middle. For once there’s some talent and depth there. But man, this would be a great year to tank. Take Darnold, spread Kirk’s salary out to lock up Brown and a few others, sign a LG and DT, draft a RB in the early second, and roll.

You know what you're getting from him now. 25-30 touch downs a season and around 10 or ints and a few rushing touchdowns. Someone who can definitely command your offense, but isn't going to carry your team to a playoff win. He can win a playoff game, but his teammates have to be playing very well, and in order for him to win a SB, his defense will need to be the best unit on the field.

Without him you drop into 4-6 win territory every year. With him you're around .500.

Main question to ask then is where is the future of the team? It's not really on offense, as we don't have anything akin to say, Julio Jones or 1a potential talent on the unit. So its just a unit with some alright guys. Then offensive line is average. Defensively it's pretty much the same, with vet mercenaries running your backfield, some alright young guys, then Kerrigan, and then young guys like Allen and Mack.

Best thing to do is *probably* tank, because with the economic barriers the team is going to have there's just no way you can build an elite defense around Cousins at this point. And it's proven he can't carry a team. You might get one random anomaly of a season with him like with what happened with Matt Ryan, but its not sustained excellence.

If you tank, you've at least got the potential of getting the next big stud, or at least building a dominant unit and not just an average unit. You could also just fail every year in the draft like the Browns.

But yea, I'd probably tank. There's no convincing argument to be made that this team has any path to being a consistent second round playoff team, let alone a superbowl.
