Re: Rubio to Jazz
Rubio Rubio is a cumulative 9/19 on threes so far in Eurobasket --- 47.4%. The round of 16 for FIBA/Eurobasket starts tomorrow, Saturday. Spain had a few pushovers in the early round, but now the games will get more competitive.
For NBA performance this coming season, I will be happy if Rubio can match or exceed his three point percentage from the second half of last NBA season at 35.5%.

Nice little chart here from Nylon Calculus indicating Rubio's offensive efficiency, despite his low FG%.

Re: Rubio to Jazz
The raw points added scoring and assist seems easy enough. Why do Wall and Rubio have a negative in the third column though? Scoring inefficiency I assume. But what's the formula?

Never mind. I did the amazing thing of clinking the link and bothering to read. Didn't see the link at first. On my phone.

Re: Rubio to Jazz
I like this "simple" stat. I would like to see the same stat with screen assists added. Then we would see the efficiency of Gobert. You can see how high he is on the scoring efficiency. If you added screens he would come out quite well I think. This stat seems similar to Lockes PAC in some ways.

I'm gonna watch Doncic closely and hope we luck out in the lottery.
It's going to be hard to luck out from the 13th-14th spot.
It's going to be hard to luck out like that after making the playoffs.

Rubio was killer down the stretch in Eurobasket today, scoring 12 points in the 4th, including knocking down two big 3's.

I think he meant "after making the playoffs and DL spinning some of his vodoo to move up and get just the guy we wanted".

Watching these highlights his shot looks an awful lot like Pierce's. Slow and no jump. That's good since he's making them but I hope he has a nice fake for closers when they take him a little more seriously.

Re: Rubio to Jazz
Rubio moves up to projected top 50 player on ESPN:
Pre-season player rankings: Patrick Beverley-50, George Hill-49, Ricky Rubio-48, Goran Dragic-47.
http://sports-ak.espn.go.com/nba/story/_/page/nbarank3150/nbarank-players-31-50
"Rubio: last year's rank: 63
2017-18 projected RPM: 3.98. Last year's RPM was 2.49.
Stats and Info: Given today's fascination with spacing and the rise of the scoring point guard, it's easy to see how Ricky Rubio can get lost in the shuffle when discussing the game's best floor generals. Yet despite his limitations, Rubio is a viable tip of the spear on both ends of the floor, as he's one of just three point guards in NBA history with career averages of eight assists and two steals per game, alongside Chris Paul and John Stockton. Rubio's heady game should be a perfect fit in Utah."
ESPN is expecting Ricky Rubio to be better than last year. So am I. I think the change of scenery to a positive environment along with the excellent developmental coaching here will be good for him. I am also hopeful that the signs of an improved shot that he showed the second half of last season, and in to this current FIBA tournament, are not a total fluke and that he can knock down the NBA threes at 35% or better this season.

Re: Rubio to Jazz
Are the fiba 3's still shorter than the NBA?
If so then I wouldnt put too much stock in his shooting in this tourney.
Still somewhat excited to have a dynamic playmaker on this team however.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Yeah, that extra 1.5 inch deeper line in the NBA is really going to affect his shot I think people aren't giving him any credit for improvements since the All-star break and now through FIBA. It is a hugely good sign.

Actually 1.60 (FT) (18 inches)and yes it does make a difference.
It was the difference of Gordon Giricek being an elite 3pt shooter and not being one.
Dont fool yourself in thinking it makes zero difference.

In this image he's shooting from NBA depth.
So he mostly does no matter if FIBA, NBA or backward yard.
