That is a really good question right now. IDK, where does he fit in the 4-3 defense? Didn't see much from him in the LEO position.

I can't tell.

Obviously wasn't a fan of his during that draft but gave him a chance. He showed some flashes, feels like there's more hype than production at times. You(in general) can see the potential to be something of a factor in games but it hasn't materialized yet.

Now throw in the various injuries mounting up.... idk... maybe he needs to change his physique and become more of a bull than he is now?

I really didn’t like him coming out of Oregon—I despised that pick. As a matter of fact many draft analysts were doing their mocks and had projected us selecting him weeks or maybe even months prior to the draft. The first time I witnessed that i almost vomited.

Anyway, he sort grew on me. Not sure what it is, but I think he can become a very good player in the league. Not an elite player but surely someone who can make 2 or 3 pro bowl appearances. I’m not even sure we’re using him correctly. He’s a 3/4 end. If he ends up being traded to another team (Pats or Chargers for instance) he’d ball out for them, but it must be in the right scheme.

I think that was the worst kept secret ever. Everyone predraft was saying the 49ers was going to draft Armstread.

49ers placed DE Arik Armstead (broken hand) on injured reserve.

The 49ers tipped their hand earlier Tuesday, signing DL Tony McDaniel and Leger Douzable. Armstead will presumably be a candidate for return, but he'll have to sit out eight games first, meaning he can't return until Week 16. At that point, the 49ers might not bother. The No. 17 overall pick of the 2015 draft, Armstead was off to a solid start this season, plugging the run and providing some pass rush. Things are in danger of getting really ugly for the rebuilding 49ers.

One could go 1 of 2 ways with this.

1.) The next couple of weeks are going to be "fun." Again acknowledging for the millionth time that sometimes you (GM/coach) go into a season feeling very uneasy about different position groups on your team but that you'd actually go into a season with the names they did and the lack of known ties to anybody else just continues to amaze me.

or.........

2.) You take the lighthearted and comedic approach and you imagine what this could do to Jim Harbaugh's head when he sees this play. (Magnuson played at Michigan). Granted, he's a Wolverine so he's got much bigger problems right now than a former player (Buckeyes joke - fan here).

I'll take it. Always liked this guy a little bit. Better than most of the other projects they've tried working with IMO.

Ward out for season

Staley up to 5 weeks possibly... surprised not more TBH.

Now THIS is the real Mr. Glass. Ward can’t stay healthy to save his life.

49ers placed Gary Gilliam on injured reserve with the knee injury he suffered.

As a guy in a football family, I feel a little something for GG and his family, but on the fan side if I can eliminate the human aspect of it, it's a step forward for the 49ers future because GG should have never been signed as a body and hopefully it forces them to add a body down the road that might be better than the.....collection....of bodies they were hoping to get this year.

If I hadn't seen enough of them at the start of the year (I had) I've certainly seen enough now. If I haven't made myself clear the million times before this I'm ready for a full OL cleaning except for Staley, Brown, and Tomlinson.

Unfortunately, I don't see eye-to-eye with the typical Shanahan lineman and all the extensions that come with it, so I don't have high hopes I'll fall in love with anybody they add, but at least it could force them to add a body eventually.

Transcript: Kyle Shanahan provides injury updates following loss to Eagles

Your starting left tackle right now is?

"That's a good question. I'll have an answer for that in the next 24 hours, but I don't have that right now."

This says at least 5 different things.

Woo! Focus on the positives! Focus on the positives!

Do you think Tomlinson is a quality starter for the future? Detroit gave up on him and it doesn't appear he has played well thus far for the 49ers?

I wouldn't guarantee it or expect it in Shanahan's system. Not an overly great fit. He's still worth a shot because he's one of the rare players on this team that fits the mold of a player I want to see added to this team for when the team gets a coach in that I see eye to eye with more. It'd be nice if he could last longer than them...assuming I am right about Shanahan's future as a HC.

I really liked his potential and upside if a coaching staff could hit on his ceiling because I thought it was high. I just would prefer to see him in some previous 49ers systems with better coaching for him specifically. Added bonus are the intangibles with the guy. He's absolutely somebody any coach should want to be around.

These numbers can fluctuate from site to site depending on who does them. Anyway, they're getting there more than some MAY think but actually getting QBs to go down has been another story (T-15).
