UF and McIlwain apparently part ways via ESPN.

At issue is the amount of the buyout. Randy Shannon will take over.

Scott Frost surely will be high on the list of candidates as will Norvell of Memphis, Campbell at Iowa state. The arrogant gator fans probably will believe that they can get Fuente of Virginia Tech, but why would he leave there to go to "Dysfunctional U".

McIlwain is arrogant, stubborn, but should have had great success there. His decision to hire and keep Nussbaum (OC) was a fatal error in judgement.

Total self-destruction.

McIwain and Bo Pelini should form some kind of partnership in the future. They are equally self-destructive.

I haven't been following UF last couple of years, how was Mcelwain arrogant? How did he fail? BTW, UF fans are a special type of delusional.

Arrogant with fans and media with comments.

Arrogant by standing by his OC that has failed in his past three jobs as an OC.

If Florida wants Fuente, they will take him.

Told you our game wouldn't be a Top 10 matchup. Ha.

FWIW, I predicted the loss on TheBullsPen. It wasn't a popular opinion.

BUT LOOK AT ME NOW.

At least you're still ranked (in most polls).

Houston is a good team. They’ve had a couple of hiccups this season.

Sounds like the coaching staff erred down the stretch with clock management.

If its possible that Urban Meyer would have interest in returning to Florida, You can't pass that down. He probably staying at Ohio State but just saying if he did have interest. How would be the Gators be right now if Meyer never left? Probably top 10 team

Didn't he leave because OSU was his dream job? Why would he give that up? Not sure I understand why you think he'd value UF over OSU

Aubrey Dawkins out for the season with shoulder injury. Really stinks as it sounded like he was going to be a stud

edit: Apparently a torn labrum, expected to be out 5 months. Hopefully he can get a 6th year for it but it really sucks.

Add UF to the list of schools who will come hard after Frost.

His name should be at the top of almost every list.

That said, I just don't see him likely leaving this year. He's hours to days from having his first kid and the way he talks about his team, coaches and his boss he sounds more like a guy staying put.

The administration should double the football salary pool because he's worth that much to the university and this program. Winning brings in more money. Next year could be really special (possibly playoff) if we can keep him here.

The problem with keeping Frost is that UCF just doesn't have the money.
The AAC just can't compete with all the Power 5 conference.
For example the Big12 is terrible right now yet they signed a 10 yr 2 billion dollar contract back then. that's like 200 millions each year for 10 schools. Where the AAC got a 7 yr 128 million dollar contract which is less than $20 millions for 12 schools.
This is how Tom Herman went to Houston last year to making $5mil/yr at Texas. Frost is making $2mil/yr.
As much as UCF try with this Excellent Fund, they can't afford to pay Frost anywhere near what the P5 schools can pay him.
As sad as it may be, I will admit that Frost will be gone after this year or next.
Until then, the AAC just have to keep proven themselves and earn a bigger TV contract next time.

The excellence fund has already raised 3.5m so it may buy some time at the very least. That being said, I don't know if even with enough money UCF would keep Frost for more than a few years. I don't think the money is as important as the potential legacy. At UCF he could build something and take the program to new heights, probably get them into a P5 in the next round of expansion (inevitable). But Nebraska has history, he won titles there, his parents & family still live there if i'm not mistaken. He'd have a more realistic and probable chance at a national title there. Lots of reasons for UCF fans to worry.

Howver, I could see him sticking with UCF another 2-3 years until his first recruiting class graduates. I don't think he came here looking for a quick hop. I know what coaches say can't be trusted because they're always going to say the "right" thing. But I think he's having fun, he's starting a family, I think he likes Orlando and UCF. I honestly think he's here until about 2020 and then he moves on. But I won't be surprised in the least if he's gone at seasons end either.

That's nice, but top programs with $$$$ will be coming after him. I hope he stays, I really do. I'd like to see what he can do with UCF. But again, top programs with money are going to come calling.

The ideal scenario is what Boise had for years with Chris Peterson. Frost turned down jobs for years until the right one opened. Frost if he stays could make us a contender for more than just AAC titles for years to come. He might have a better shot at the playoff here as crazy as that sounds.

The other big priority is locking in Danny White. He's just as much of a home run hire from everything I've seen.

I'd die from laughter if they hired Kiffin.
