10 and 3 start to the season?

Post#1 » by Ottomund » Tue Oct 31, 2017 4:26 pm

After tonight's game we are on a 5 game home stand. I don't think it is all that unreasonable to see a 5-1 record over the next 6 games given the quality of our opponents.

I see the next 6 games like this:

@ Lakers: W
Vs Bucks: L
Vs Kings: W
Vs Pacers: W
Vs Hawks: W
Vs Heat: W

Am I crazy to think that 10-3 the most likely outcome? I could also see us beating the bucks and then dropping a game to the Kings or something weird like that.

Let's say there is a 75% chance of beating one of those five teams you have scheduled for a win. The chances we beat all of them is under 24%. It certainly can be done, but I'd go with 9-4.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

I just hope they come to play every game. If they do a W is possible against anyone, well except the refs

Ugghhh... so true.

We've already seen this team play down to the competition (Sixers, Going down big to the Knicks), so assuming wins is a bad idea.

We've also seen them play up to very good competition.

In summary: Don't assume losses. Don't assume wins.

I'll guess 8-5. 2 extra losses solely because of this thread.

We could be anywhere from 11-2 or 8-5 record imo. 10-3 is very possible.

Anyways glad to see after 3 years lurking you decided to post something :) Welcome.

If this team is 10-10 after the first 20 I will be extatic. Right on schedule.

Anything more then that means only good things. Looking ahead is tough as the team is growing and is going to have befuddeling losses from time to time.

Doesn't matter the opposing team. Its matters how this team plays really.

Historically this team has gotten up against good teams and played them tight and sometimes gotten beat badly by sub .500 teams.

I could see us going 1-5, too. Such is the life of a Piston fan.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I have no idea as to how this progresses? I'm sure they have it posted somewhere? Doesn't matter, just keep posting. During the long 'winter of our discontent' posters have dwindled. No offense Ottomund, I'm just kidding around. If the team keeps this up some of the prodigals will return.

I love this forum and even if I'm not posting I'm on here everyday. The was another Pistons message board I posted on but it died after the "going to work" Pistons. Glad I landed here!

This has been the most optimistic I have been about the Pistons since our 15/16 season where we finally cracked the playoffs and were trending up. Normally I try to be VERY cautiously optimistic but I have been super impressed with how we've played. It's not like these are just fluke wins where the other team is having an off night or we are just stupid hot. No, we are locked in and disciplined defensively for 80-90% of every game lately and are executing beautifully on offense. Even when opposing teams are doing things well (like GSW shooting 57%) we are still pulling these games out by playing the right way and trusting the system. RJ seems happy and content with his lesser albeit still very prominent role and everyone is buying into the high energy, defense focused, and ball movement approach that SVG has implemented. Everyone has established roles for the most part, aside from the super young guys like Kennard and Ellenson, and our only true weakness so far is backup center because Leuer is utterly incompetent. I really hope SVG goes after Okafor to replace him. The dude has got be at rock bottom value right now and should be had for cheap.

I think we can win all of those games. Those are bottom feeding teams for the most part except for MIL. I also think MIL is very overrated too. People are high on them because of Giannis but it's not like they have looked super amazing so far aside from Giannis having some big games. If they end up adding Bledose then I will be a little scared but right now I think we definitely have a good chance of being the better team. With that said, this is the NBA so I could definitely see us dropping a couple of those games.

BTW, SVG isn't perfect but he has been fantastic and deserves more respect on this board imo. Sure, people want Kennard but Galloway is simply better and has been a big factor in 2-3 of our wins. Sure, people want Ellenson but Tolliver has also been a major factor in 2-3 of our wins. If Kennard/Ellenson were playing in those games over Galloway/Tolliver we very well could be looking at a .500 record right now. Sure, people want Leuer on the bench (or better yet, off the team) but Marjanovic got exposed faster than I've ever seen another player get exposed in that NY game and Moreland isn't anything special either. I PERSONALLY would give Moreland or Marjanovic another shot based on how putrid and crippling Leuer has been this season but you can't be calling for SVG's head simply because he is going with Leuer (SVG is also probably trying to boost his value by playing him too). SVG has also been willing to make the right moves when necessary. It took balls to change the starting lineup after half time to put Tolliver in instead of SJ, for example, or leaving SJ and Tolliver on the floor in the 4th quarter against GSW while Harris rode the bench. Most coaches wouldn't do something that. He has also been much more lenient with SJ and RJ specifically. I was worried he would bench those 2 if they didn't bounce back right away this season. Both have had ups and downs but both have easily been net positives and SVG has been willing to give them opportunities to prove themselves. Give the guy some love, even if we are still early in the season. He has earned it.
