Its hard to root to lose with the youth killing it these past 2 games...

Its the youth leading the charge!

but I think Suns need to consolidate some assets to get a HUGE impact player that can expedite the timeline to next season and onwards.

I've watched the last couple of Nuggets games and Mudiay has looked good.... in terms of his passing, movement and even his 3pt shooting.... I think he's got potential to improve dramatically, he's got talent and size.

Plus we add our pick. They get out of cap hell, get a balanced team with a good pick, and team up the Kentucky teammates - ofcourse they would need a resigned Boogie for this. We get AD, round out our team with the rest of our picks. Win.

(I feel kinda dirty proposing this after last night... but business is business and AD is AD)

The top 5 never remains the top 5 so I suspect we will have something to work with if we pick just outside that range. A player always drops or moves in and historically pick 2 and pick 10 have similar All-Star strike rates. So it becomes more complicated once players play.

As it goes now, our last remaining piece won't come from the draft, but from a trade.

It would be easier to get Drummond or Myles Turner, Porzingis or even Gobert (assuming we are aiming at a C) for a package of picks/players than to move up in the draft, as few teams are willing to swap a potential superstar for 2 maybe all stars, or something like that.
Some teams might have a disgruntled star or may be shifting towards a rebuild, in which case a package of good picks for your best player makes much more sense.

Anthony Davis has nearly 3 years left on his deal. IMO, the Pels will tear it down and try again before they deal him. The proposed deal above probably only works if he was expiring.

I have a feeling this is the deal we'll end up taking. Maybe McD is also trying to get them to include an additional pick. Mudiay, 1st, a future 2nd or 2

Maybe Drummond but the others are probably at least as untradeable for those teams as Booker is. They have certainly all showed far more on court value.

I agree. Plus Boogie could walk and even if one was to argue they would want to start a rebuild, you only dream of being able to add an AD or Boogie type in the draft, which is extremely hard to come by, much less two of them. Even the top of this draft would have to exceed expectations to end up with those kind of numbers.

I wish we could keep Ty Chandler, love what he has been since Watson was fired.

They won't be giving up a chance a getting a major difference maker, and we'll be betting on the Nets having better than a bottom 5 record. And if it doesn't convey this year then it we get their first this year and in 2021. By 2021 Lebron will be long gone and I can't imagine they'd be a top seed, so that could be very valuable. Both teams take a gamble but Cleveland feels safer.

Suns in: Nets pick (protected top 5 or else 2 cleveland firsts), Shumpert, Frye
Cavs in: Bledsoe

Nah. The point of trading for that pick is to get a shot at the top 5. I would rather just negotiate a swap.

That's why it's extremely unlikely they will trade it. Not only is that one of the most prized trade assets (other than established superstars and unprotected Bulls, Hawks, Mavs and Kings picks) in the league, there has been zero talk or mention that the Cavs have any interest whatsover. IT is a much better fit for them anyway. If he can't come back healthy that could change things but they already have their better player who will likely come within a couple a months.

I think he does wonders for the recent chemistry but it seems like we want him in on any outgoing Bled deal even though we would get better assets back by NOT including him. I hope he stays and we just trade Bled.

I agree - less reason to trade chandler now. I guess if the Bucks deal happened and they moved an expiring Monroe - but seems unlikely

I would be fine with Bledsoe for Mudiay, Arthur and the pick

I don't mind either way, particularly if he doesn't reduce what is coming back (like no pick instead of a pick). Otherwise keep him.

If we keep playing well and don't find a decent C to come back in a deal, we may just keep him since Williams is out and Len would likely foul out if he was our only center. I don't think Bender/Chriss can play too many minutes at C effectively enough yet to use that as much of an option if we were to trade him without bringing back a C.

Yeah, he has been huge. I do not want to trade him for now.

He is old and he can not defend the paint like in the past, but he is good enough to play around 18-20 mpg... even next season if we upgrade the C position with an improved Len or another starting C.

Do you guys see us making a push to add Cousins this summer?
I wonder if he's a player who can take us to the next level.

In case it wasn't already discussed:

The Phoenix Suns signed guard Mike James to a two-way contract at the beginning of July. James has played well enough so far this season that management has already decided to convert his deal to an NBA contract.

"It won't be a decision of whether we want to keep him or not," Suns general manager Ryan McDonough told 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station. "The decision will be whether we can agree on a contract that is acceptable to us and to Mike and his agent. I think we’ll get there."

I don't see Cousins coming here after we let Bledsoe go. I think that ship has now sailed.

Agreed. It is even a further stretch given how we have treated Bled. Not a good look.
