With 10% of the season in the books, here's where our players stand.

Indeed.

Dennis is barely on the plus side due solely to his offensive contribution.

This metric does not rate Taurean very highly. At all.

Collins is in position to make a leap with minor improvements in offense and defense.

I'm genuinely surprised at how poorly Taurean is rated. I mean no one has played great but I thought he was doing well from the games i've seen. Im curious to see more data to see what is going on there.

Jamaaliver wrote:^Agreed. If it's as simple as trapping Dennis to shut down our scoring for half of a quarter...this team is more devoid of offensive talent than we thought.

The offense is fairly basic and the players are limited offensively.

This...is a bad team. I was thinking we'd win 26+ games. This might be closer to 15 win squad.

Bigger picture: We're on pace to be in the bottom 6 of OFFENSIVE Eff for the 3rd straight season. That's pretty damning for the coach.

Trapping Dennis wasn't the main cause of the offensive inefficiency to start the 1st half of the 4th.
We went 0-10 on some WIDE open looks. This article gives a detailed breakdown of some of these plays...(Philly's defense gets some credit but guys missing shots they usually make was the issue)

.Coming off of the Dedmon screen, Isaiah Taylor gets a great look inside the paint, but he can’t hit the tear-drop:
.Marco Belinelli and Dewayne Dedmon play the two-man game, and after Dedmon receives the ball from Belinelli, he rises into that mid-range J, but misses badly:
.Taylor and Dedmon link up again, and Taylor finds himself in the paint again. He tries to the lift his floater home-and-away but it’s short:
.After getting a defensive stop, the Hawks go the other way. Dennis Schröder finds Kent Bazemore in transition, who launches into a straightaway-three and it misses:
.And to cap off missed opportunities, Luke Babbitt misses this wide open three in the corner:

The Hawks had plenty of good looks, they just couldn’t makw\e them.

I guess we have a new defense too because the Hawks suck at defending the 3. Teams hot shooting from 3 is killing us.

A lot of scrambling on D. Which some guys either aren't able to do or are just too slow. I don't think Bud has much faith in a lot of guys individual D. and for good reason.

Baze is not getting it. He makes really bad decisions with the ball in his hands. He's decent 3&D and hustle guy but he can't be a play maker of any sort. Leave that to Taylor!

Dedmon talks being an elder statesman and Bud's 5-out offense. He's also the resident cut-up, lol.

Kind of surprising to see TP and DS on this list of Hawks' top shooters from deep.

young Hawks are playing very well considering. throw the comparative stats out. This is a rebuilding team. Check back with comparatives again in a couple of years when we have a complete and maturing team.

These guys are so young, almost no one has played together and this is a completely unfinished team. Not a good situation for these type stats.

I like what I'm seeing given the situation

You can definitely see that. He looks like a kid out there but sometimes, if you can shoot well enough, it doesn't matter that much for short periods of time.

I'm good with Dennis/Baze/Prince/Babbit/Dedmon. Moose doesn't need to be starting. Taylor/Marco/JC/Moose off the bench for 9 man rotation. I would like to continue to see Dorsey get some time though.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
