I think Simmons himself is pushing that and the tv people are being nice. I remember he would use it on Instagram last year.

Absolutely. He is the first true point guard of that size maybe ever considering that he is even a couple inches bigger than magic.

I think Lebron could do it, but he generally doesn’t do it so I don’t count him.

Lebron is also "only" 6ft 8". I don't see a guy like Giannis ever doing it... he doesn't have the same ball handling and passing skills.

Yeah the whole PF not a PG thing in the off-season drove me insane because people were only basing it on a few highlights of Simmons being mismanaged at LSU where he played the 4 and 5 mainly.

Anyone that watched Ben since high school could see he had point guard ability. The only person that couldn't see it was his LSU coach Johnny Jones who preferred a D-League/China scrub in Tim Quarterman running the point. Cost him his job in the end.

Thankfully Brett Brown saw it too. Simmons would still make a good 4 but he is so much more valuable playing the 1. Match-up nightmare.

Ben Simmons is tied for 1st in the NBA in loose balls recovered per game, and tied for 4th in threes contested per game (Robert Covington is 2nd). That one really surprised me.

With stats like that it would assume we should be a top 10 defense but based on eye test I feel we are a bottom ten defense. Do you know where were are overall on defense and can you also take out the Toronto game and see where we would rank on defense?

Rank 16th overall. Don't think I can pluck just one game from equation, trying to think how I could. Here's this at least:

DRtg before Toronto game 105.3 (2 games). Games after Toronto 101.2 (5 games). Toronto 116.1.

I think the team is really good defensivly when embiid is in, and pretty average when he is out.

We allow too many open threes and make too many dumb fouls.

Kid just continues to impress. Even with a rough shooting game (1st half), he still impacts the game in so many ways. Huge block down the stretch which really helped us put the game away.

One thought on Cov and Simmons being 1st and 2nd in the NBA in defending 3's..... 2 games against Houston will put anyone on that list!! Hahaha

I get what your saying, but Simmons and Covington are both very active defenders. They try to tip/deflect/steal as many balls as possible...So this contested 3PT shots is no coincidence.

To think he was 1 rimmed out Covington 3 from starting his career with 3 triple doubles in his first 9 games. And I don't even feel like he has been as dominant as he can be.
