Our final player rankings...... Analyze!

Post#1 » by ByeByeDre » Thu Nov 2, 2017 4:18 pm

So here's how our posters ranked the players......

Tobias is our #1
Drummond is our #2
Bradley is our #3
Reggie is our #4
Ish is our #5
Stanley is our #6
Henry is our #7
Galloway is our #8
Tolliver is our #9
Kennard is our #10
Leuer is our #11
Bullock is our #12
Boban is our #13
Moreland is our #14

I have quite a few observations, but I'll start with this one - OUR TOP FIVE PLAYERS NEVER PLAY TOGETHER. When it's closing time, #1-4 are typically in, but with #6 or #9. Not sure how many other teams don't finish games with their best five.......

Would help if our 6th man was a SF and not a PG

I don't agree that the starters should be the cut and dried 1-5 best players. I think something like the starters being players 1-2-4-5-7 and the first full bench unit being 3-6-8-9-10 would be a better option, all other things beside talent level being equal (all positions covered, they play well together, etc.)

After numerous non-repetitive, non-redundant, non-an-obvious-post-padding-effort-by-a-person-who-shall-remain-nameless polls, I'm saddened by the lack of follow through in this rankings effort.

With this final rankings thread -- which isn't a redundancy of any previous rankings thread -- which weren't a redundancy of the OTHER rankings threads -- a stark and chilling reality now sets in:

The most burning question on the tip of everyone's minds will remain unsolved: "Who are our 15th and 16th best players?".

Mr. Dwight Buycks and Mr. Louis Montero, who may or may not be sitting in plain clothes behind the real Pistons players in perpetuity will no doubt have sleepless nights from this point forward. The seed of not knowing forever gnawing in the back of their minds.

Based on what they've done the past couple years + how they've looked this year, I think this is about what my list would look like.

I'm impress at how we acquire our two best players with practically a cup of coffee and Mook.

If we could trade two of top 3-10 for a star, we'll be ready!

My analysis: these threads were a complete waste of RealGM's bandwidth.

Not worried about starters as much as finishers - agreed on your numbers and some teams are close to that. But when it's closing time, having your top five players out there seems logical to me......

An engaged Dre that dominates the glass, MAKES his free throws, and doesn't commit stupid turnovers while playing solid enough defense is a clear #1. I wish he could look like this all the time, because he's actually a massive plus when it happens.

I voted him #1, in order for this team to accomplish anything of significance, he has to be!

Our 5 best players are:

Dre
Tobias
AB
RJ
SJ

They don't all need to start the game and they don't all need to close either

They do need to spend "enough" time on the floor together though and they generally do.

As expected we struggle when we go to our bench line up...lacking a scorer is why I stated Tobias should come off the bench but SVG obviously has a different philosophy than I do

I do not agree with those five being our best, nor do the majority of the board.

Take another poll dude.

Ish plays a vital role off the bench but there's no way - and I do mean NO WAY - that he's more important to the team than SJ

I'll admit that I was especially hard on the Galloway signing, but he needs to be higher based on his performance.

And Ellenson that high is laughable. People got WAY to excited about that first game.

The correct times to do these polls IMO is before the first game and after the last game.
