Tom Petty died. Was never a big fan. The Fox radio station pretty much ruined Petty by playing Last Dance with Mary Jane every 60 minutes for the past 25 years. Breakdown was a good tune though.

Re: OT: What Are You Listening to Now?
I just posted Last Dance with Mary Jane in a group chat reacting to the news just so I wouldn't be posting Free Fallin' or Learning to Fly.

You can put free falling at #196 on my list, one spot ahead of Last Dance...

my first time listening to Steely Dan. Aja? pretty damn good album.
Been meaning to come back to this post
1) overall impressions?
2) favorite song(s)?
3) headphones?
Aja is the go-to album for measuring audio quality of various systems and headphones. 40 years later it is still, imo, the best sounding album ever made (from an audio quality/recording standpoint) and probably my 1st or 2nd favorite album from a content perspective (other being Royal Scam - Steely) depending on my mood.

1) I dig their vibe. Don't know if this makes sense as it might change from listening to other albums, but I would almost call them... Herbie Hancock meets cool late 70s pop rock dudes. Talking about the jazz-funk-fusion days of Hancock. It's almost like just adding some guys who can think of catchy vocals to Hancock type of music.
2) Black Cow and Peg. Black Cow I knew previously and probably would have been able to guess right if I had to say what's the artist. Probably both are influenced by the fact that they have been sampled in hip hop. The moment you hear something you know like that is always nice.
3) Actually only speakers. But, yeah, my father has actually been a recording engineer his whole life. He swears by Seinheisers and that's why I also own a quality pair. Will have to give the album a listen with them. And ask him about Steely Dan as well, since I've listened to him talk about sound quality plenty of times (he says Led Zeppelin early recordings are just very bad). I hope this random off the topic trail was worth its time.

My 8 year old daughter describes this song as catchy but annoying which is pretty fitting. its such a basic song with just xylophone and voices.
it keeps getting stuck in my head, they've added a little to the start of this but the clip alone is worth it

I remember Fats saying he wanted a band he was in to cover ear ache my eye by Cheech and Chong. I think we should start a band to play that and this song. This would be a fun cover song to sing.

Re: OT: What Are You Listening to Now?
Will check what's good among yours when I have the time. Looks interesting.
Some of mine:
Rapsody - Laila's Wisdom (very good album)
do I even have to post this here? goes without saying.
surprise of the year for me. I enjoyed the whole album.
wait... was, perhaps, this actually the surprise of the year?
not Apollo Brown's best effort (not really recommending the album), but this song will probably be something that I play for some time
ditto for Roc Marciano. some good tracks on it, though.
after all the dope stuff Eiht had dropped with Brenk and Premo I had high expectations, but probably should have known better. never get involved with Preem. you'll just get your stuff endlessly delayed and, in the end, it won't even all that polished. some of the pre-album anticipatory releases have like seven or eight tracks that would have made a better album. either way... I guess it was cool to hear MC Eiht still releasing quality music.

LOL at Sex On Toast. My brother showed me them the other day.
I went to the pawn shop with a buddy and mined some cheap cassettes for my daily commuter:
Definitely Rock dis Funky Joint.
Reminded me how much I hate skits.
Which, coincidentally keeps making me think of this:
I'd post the full album but it's terrible.

Some random stuff that came out this year... favorite track is Toro y Moi - Mirage which is the first five minutes off the first clip. There's probably a **** ton more I'm forgetting at the moment.
