Nice read, You pointed out nicely how after Giannis and Lonzo Ben seems to be the real "Next Magic" and that especially in comparison to Lonzo he like Magic makes his Teammates better..all the time. He has an impact that i would argue is rare even throughout History for a Rookie.

Simmons is getting his triple doubles within the flow of the offense.

Yep. I think this is why he was considered too passive in college. Some see it as a flaw, but I see it as a strength, especially with other standouts around him. He’s not chasing stats, he’s just helping the team out and letting it flow.

I also get the feeling that when his hand is cold he knows it and finds other ways to contribute, more rebounds, blocks or steals.

“He’s a phenomenal player,” Bryant said in New York this week. “He’s just getting started too.”

“From Kobe, that’s awesome to hear,” Simmons said. “From one of the greatest to ever play the game, that means a lot. But I got a long way to go so I’ll stay in the gym.”

We got Magic (Simmons) and Kareem (Embiid). Now all we got to do is get a couple more athletic wings who can both run, defend and shoot (our Byron Scott and Michael Cooper) and we'll be set.
Fischella wrote:I think none of you guys that are pro-Embiid no how basketball works today.. is way easier to win it all with Omer Asik than Olajuwon.
Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

ben seems to be a humble dude and he has a great work ethic. He will dominate the league for years. Together with his good pals ,Biid and Fultz.

Ben Simmons is changing that. I actually started looking at those Thon Maker mix tapes on You Tube, which led me to Ben 3years back. I watched as many of the LSU games as I could on cable in Oz, luckily most of them were broadcast.

I watched the draft and when the Sixers took Ben I started to read about the team, and The Process. I’m hooked and a believer btw. T- Shirts on order, When he got injured last year I was so disappointed and have been looking forward to this season ever since.
I apologise for getting onto the bandwagon now and not having to sit through the last decade but in my defence my rugby league team in Oz, South Sydney Rabbitohs, went 43 years between championships so I have suffered.

As for Ben’s start, wow! If he did nothing more for the rest of his career, except to repeat his stats from his first 8 rookie games,
18.5 pts 9.6 reb 7.9 assists .4 blk 1.5 where would that sit him as an NBA player?

Welcome.

Hopefully lots of Australians turn into Sixers fans.

Has there ever been an nba team with two franchise level players that are from other countries? Off the top of my head I can’t think of one.

Nash and Dirk on the Mavs? Although their real career highlights came later for both of them.
Honorable mention to Divac and Peja on the Kings. ;)

As you said the Bunnies are tough to follow, but the wait was worth it. I live in Canberra but not a great fan of the Raiders, the Rabbitohs love pre dates my move here by 20 plus years.

Looking forward to the Sixers growing year by year. With Simmo, JoJo and Fultzy together the sky will be the limit.

Gotta say I love the fan base, a lot of humour and passion involved. Love the catch cries, even thinking of adding a cat to the 3 dogs at home for the invariable wins. I read Hinkies resignation letter last year, the guy is a legend.

Note: Forgive the quoting, still trying to work out how to quote a post properly.
Ps Looks like I’ve solved it.

At least your team won.....try supporting the nz warriors :banghead:

I know... sons of bitches..... I became Simmons twitter friend when he only had 100 friends. Now he has 500,000 he barely talks to me anymore

Honestly though it's good to see. Basketball could potentially be huge in Australia (Like it was in the 1990's)... it's played a lot by young kids but we lose most of our elite basketball talent athletes to Australian Rules football because the athleticism required is very similar. If they had someone like Ben to grow up and look up to as a hero a lot more of that elite talent would be playing basketball in the future which is great for the game globally.

Speaking of Aussie basketball.... saw this last night. One of the most ridiculous finishes to a game I've ever seen.

That last shot needed to be counted, don’t the scorers have any sense of theatre?

Simmons will lead a huge resurgence in Australian basketball and interest in the NBA. In the mid 80s till mid 90 it was on fire here, in fact during the time Dave Simmons (Bens dad) was a star here. Jordan then led NBA fever here during his time at the top.
Despite having a record number of players in the NBA over recent years, winning a heap of titles, and having a number of good players, Bogut, Mills, Baynes etc none have been THE player in a team. They have more been the bit player.
Simmons on the other hand is the first Aussie player that will control the destiny of his team, (apologies to JoJo) and put up numbers like Jordan, Magic and Lebron. Remember he was the first Aussie to ever make a triple double.
We only have to look at the press Jarrod Hayne got when he played a couple games of NFL last year to see what is possible.

And we already have one of those in Roco

Parker and Ginobli weren’t franchise players though. They were just all stars.

Still, it’s another close example.
