Monk shouldn't start. That was never in the cards for him. He's 19 and was injured pre-season.

Lamb is fine. Hes been missing a lot of shots he normally makes and his style just doesn't fit well with Howard camping out in the paint. He needs to be the go to scorer on the 2nd unit and play with Cody and/or Frank more and Howard less and he'll be fine.

We can't start Lamb. He's a disaster on that unit. time to give monk or graham a shot

I'm in general agreement. I'm not unhappy with Lamb, but he's not the right guy for the starting unit. I think that the more time he spends on the 2nd unit the better both he and the team will be.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu

honestly I believe that Monk should start- he needs more open looks and he'll get them on the starting unit, with defenses flocking to Kemba and Howard. Give me a Howard/Marvin/MKG/Monk/Kemba lineup... or even a Howard/MKG/Bacon/Monk/Kemba lineup

Exactly, Monk isn't ready to run the 2nd unit. He needs to start to be effective. And Lamb sucks horribly with the starters (except last night) so it makes no sense to start him. We're just shooting ourselves in the foot

Um...Monk looked pretty damn effective last night.

I personally don't think he should start, and I'm also objectively certain he won't start.

Difficult not to praise how he played the last couple of games !
I hope his game will not be affected when he'll come off the bench when Batum is back.

Lamb will produce as long as he get the minutes. If Clifford give him 25-28 minutes as a 6th man scorer off the bench he’ll continue to put up similar production.

i've watched j lamb closely since he was a freshman at uconn, and i can say this is by far the best defense he's ever played in his life. he is finally not looking lost out there.

He needs to improve his ball movement. The ball becomes too sticky in his hands and he doesn't pass nearly quick enough.

Kills our flow at times.

I think this is generally true, but he's been much better the last couple games. He had a couple really nice feeds to Dwight last game.

Lamb has been having one hell of a season thus far. At this rate it'll be cruel to demote him back to the bench when Batum returns. It's arguable that he's currently playing as good as Batum has played at any point in a Hornets' uniform

That's not to say that Batum should come off the bench when he return, but it is to say that Clifford may need to get creative with the starting lineup or make a brass decision to bench MKG

We talked about this in the thread about what to do when Nic comes back. I'm in agreement that Lamb should keep starting. Historic highs in advanced defensive stats, assists per 36, and more too, not just points.

The first few games he kinda struggled trying to find his role with the starters. But now he fit right in with them and move the ball a lot better. You can tell that they’ve formed a chemistry and Kemba is comfortable forfeiting the offense to Lamb having faith that he’ll create a scoring opportunity. So far our bench is the only thing hurting the team.

I'm worried that Lamb will never get a chance here. He is playing the best he ever has, but this team has pretty much put the pieces around him to make it impossible for him to secure a prominent role without major injuries. At this point, I think the team should trade him once Batum comes back because Clifford is just going to send him back to the bench and give most of his minutes and shots to a 19 year old Monk. Jeremy Lamb is not a 20 minute / 8 shots a game guy. He is too good for that.

Put me in the camp that think we should package Batum or MKG with Frank and a future 1st rounder for a legit star player.

I've liked Lamb this year but I couldnt see us getting much in return in a trade for him.

I wouldn't mind having Batum off the bench directing the bench crew. He would probably be our best point guard behind Kemba.
