2018 NFL Draft Thread

Post#1 » by ReasonablySober » Sun Oct 15, 2017 8:42 pm

Might as well get this one going.

Not the best year to have a high pick if you're the Packers. Lots of QBs and defensive backs, non-elite pass rushers, virtually no defensive linemen, and WRs that belong at the bottom of the 1st as opposed to the top. Lots of injury issues. Barkley'd be the obvious prize for Green Bay.

I think best case scenario: lose out, get a top pick then find a team who really wants a QB so they offer a haul for it.

What's nice is most of the teams in front of us will go qb:
Cleveland, San Fran, and maybe even the Giants

If we can get something like the #5 pick we might see 3 or 4 of the picks in front if us be QB giving us the pick of the litter at any other position.

Are u expecting us to lose out? Cause that kinda the only way the sniff top 5.

Even assuming Rodgers doesn't come back we still probably finish at least 7-9

Well glad to hear dback is strong. Other than king theres not one cb I consider a lock to be on the team next year. Probably need to hit cb early again this year.

I don't see any way we lose enough games to get a top 5 pick. Top 10 MAYBE, but our schedule for the rest of the year is pretty light.

I actually think we have a better shot at a top pick if Brett Hundley plays well. 9-7 might win our division and get us a home game in the playoffs, with a little time that's still totally doable (5-5 to end the year). That's probably impressive enough to get any number of teams picking ahead of us interested in making a deal next year for him, maybe even for a 1st rounder.

Without an offensive line, this will be impossible. But I still think this is more likely then us losing basically every game out.

I want to see Derwin James on the field with Josh Jones next year all of the time. Or if we could draft basically any 2 defensive players for Alabama, that would help as well.

Our defense is going to give up a lot of points to the Saints, Buccaneers, Steelers, Panthers, and Lions (twice) and Aaron won't be there to bail them out. The other team's defenses will be licking their chops at finally playing a Packers team without a HOF QB.

I will be shocked if we win more than 2 games going forward.
Outside of the Browns and the Bears I don't see any games we have a shot in.

If that happens we are 6-10 or 5-11

The Browns and 49ers are the only teams I can guarantee will be worse than that, followed by the Giants unless they found some fight last night . After that it's fair game. There is no way the Browns or 49ers leave this draft without taking a QB at the top of the draft, possibly the Giants too.

I think we win 3 games rest of the way. We have the browns, one or two NFC opponents will be having on off day or possibly catch another team off guard. Should be a top 15 pick.

RB should be so low on the priority list with our first round pick it isn't even funny.

Inside Linebackers, O-Lineman should be priority and maybe a new passrusher on defense.

Those are priorities, but we should probably draft 4 defensive backs as well if we aren't going to be signing many.

OK, 4 is an exaggeration, but Burnett may not be here too much longer and we probably need 4 new corners on the roster next season.

Depending on where we actually land in round 1, I'd target:
1) Minkah Fitzpatrick, CB Bama,
2) Ken Webster, CB Ole Miss
or
3) Tarvarus McFadden, CB FSU
Just think we neeed to hit on CB to pair w/ king.

Round 2, I'd look to target:
1) Malik Jefferson, LB Texas
2) Jerome Baker, LB Ohio St
or
3) Orlando Brown, OT Oklahoma

Thoughts?

Pass rusher is our biggest need to me and its not even close. We need to get another stud OLB and I wished we would've taken Lawson was pretty high on him even if I never watched him. lol

Barkley? Not even top 5 as far as what the team needs. Pass rush and defense in general. Maybe some offensive linemen that aren't made of glass.

Not on the lose out bandwagon until after next week. If McCarthy calls another conservative game plan and they score only 17 while giving up 30 I hope they lose out. Makes no sense to play so conservative if your defense sucks. Let Hundley throw it around. Who cares if he turns it over. They need to score thirty points a game with this **** defense.

Barkley doesn't really do anything for me. Guy doesn't even have great stats and part of his appeal is his kick return ability and if we draft him in the top 5 or 10 or wherever McCarthy would never let him do that taking away a lot of his value.
