Wow. Bucks managed to protect the hell out of that pick.

I think that was more McD's doing.
Bucks should have wanted to get the pick moved asap. Anything can happen a couple years from now and it also prevents the Bucks from moving a future first without having to take this one into consideration.

You might be right on that. Is that 2021 Miami pick unprotected? If so, and for whatever reason this Bucks one doesn't convey until then, does that mean we have 2 unprotected picks plus our own in 2021?

So basically it's a late 2020 1st round pick. This trade just keeps getting worse.

Bucks would have to finish bottom 7 in 2020 to get the unprotected 2021.

Also teams should be 1-4 protecting instead of 1-3 with the new lottery deciding the top 4 picks.

Maybe Giannis or Bledsoe get injured next year they win 40 games but get the 4th pick in the lottery for us.

I don’t know what else was out there, but it’s a bit surprising that this is what we “held out” for. Unless we see Monroe as someone to keep and send out Tyson soon, this is a definite step back. Cap space is pretty useless for a non-big market team finishing at the bottom. Only hope is that Bucks somehow fade toward the end of the pick protections and we get lucky. Not a fan of the trade at this point though.

I honestly just barely peaked at his stats this year for the first time. I didn't realize he did in fact turn into PorzinGod. But it really isn't about him. I was just throwing something together that suggest we use Monroe's expiring for a disgruntled player (Porzingis came to mind).
We could throw Whiteside's name in the trade instead.

That's like going all in when you have a pair of pair of 10s and a pair of 7s. Anyway, I don't know what "star" would even be dealt. They have to really want out and they'd have to be under contract for awhile.

We just can't be playing Jackson and Bender a combined 23 minutes like last night. That's not a good way for our team to improve.

That's a fairly good hand TBH.

I haven't watched the last two games as I've been working. I don't know how a lot of you are so confident in Jackson, but his shot is so off-putting it makes me question whether or not he can be anything more than a MKG, Tony Allen like player. I hope I eat crow for it.

Here's another scenario, Luol Deng and Kyle Kuzma for Greg Monroe and the Bucks pick. Lakers trying for stars this summer, they could potentially get Lebron and CP3. Just spit-balling here, but since the Lakers did just dump Mozgov and D'Lo for an expiring Brook Lopez, something like this could be possible.

Guys playing as well as Kuzma has a rookie don't get traded.

Yeah, a source close to the trainers said his knees were shot. Maybe it's good he tweeted and got sat. It could have been a lot worse and he could have gotten injured in the next game.

Might not work in reality but keeping Bledsoe to draft day is a better asset than the Milwaukee pick.

I'm guessing the line is there because they had the 17th pick last year. So if they stay the same or get better, then they keep it. If they are worse then Suns get it. Unless they are so bad that they drop into top 10 picks.

So if we get the 15th, 16th or 17th pick from them, we lose the second. I'll take the higher first rounder. The best spot to end up with both picks is 18th and 48th. It's basically hedging a little bit I guess.

You never know. Bledsoe may not re-sign there and Parker could continue to not be healthy. OR, Parker signing a max deal could cap strap the team so they can't improve. That franchise could be elite, or they could be middling still.
I'm content with the pick conveying a couple years from now so we don't have to worry about integrating another kid just yet.

This is good news, I think.

"Uniquely protected" could be something like lottery protected, but also 20-30 protected. So we'd only get the pick if it's between 15-19.

My hope is it's something like that, but if we don't get the pick it goes to an unprotected 2019 1st.

No, we get two picks if it's 18th and worse...15th-17th and we will lose the second. It's kind of like being compensated with an extra pick if they finish higher in the standings.

Wow... really weird pick protection.
