I have no idea whether to hope Milwaukee are good or bad or now or later or what.
McDonough has done a Chewbacca protection.

Lol...jackass kicking sand in our face. After the past 10 years, we are immune to insults, so you'll have to win a championship to get your jollies, because it won't be from us jumping off the bridge. Actually you should teach us how to handle disappointment for 30 years in a row, like you guys have since the Maurice Lucas days, it looks like we are headed were you have resided since eternity.
Maybe I'm reading his post wrong but I see no malicious intent by what he said. Especially knowing that trolling/baiting will get him banned.
I think a lot of Suns fans just need to blow off steam. When we heard about the rumored 3 way deal, that should have been enough to tell us the return wasn't going to be Brogdon or Parker or anyone special.
I took the "and thank u very much for Bledsoe" as a shot because if he had read any of the other posts, he would know most are unhappy about the trade/situation. So thanking someone for something seen as a fleece in my book is not cool. Thats how I took it, via the situation and being I can't see his face. We all have our own interpretations.

bhawk wrote:Like everyone here, I wish the return would have been better for Bledsoe. But the reality is that he was NOT worth more than what we received. If the market (another team) would have offered us more, McD would have executed a better trade. It is simple.
I personally think that this trade was fair value, considering that there is a MAD surplus of good point guards in the league. Bledsoe is good, not great. He is NOT a special player. He is damaged goods with his knees and his contractual (agent) baggage.
Our package is comparable to a what the Kings received for a much more talented player -- Boogie.
Let's all move on past the Bledsoe era. Let's celebrate the growth of our core players and look forward to building through the next several drafts. I like the Suns #timeline and the future is bright.
I agree. As stingy as McD is, at this point, we obviously were not going to do better.
And those comparing it to the Dragic and Markieff trades, the market is extremely different now after the cap space and picks are FAR more coveted and harder to come by in trade because they are cost controlled assets. It's your best chance to come across value contracts like what we are paying Booker and others on rookie contracts.
The value of first round picks skyrocketed hand in hand with the cap.

"Uniquely protected" could be something like lottery protected, but also 20-30 protected. So we'd only get the pick if it's between 15-19.
My hope is it's something like that, but if we don't get the pick it goes to an unprotected 2019 1st.
No, we get two picks if it's 18th and worse...15th-17th and we will lose the second. It's kind of like being compensated with an extra pick if they finish higher in the standings.
If it is 11-16 this year, then Suns only get the 1st and they get it this year. If it is 17 then they still only get the 1st, but they get it in 2019 or 2020. If it is 18-30 then they get the 2nd this year and the 1st in 2019 or 2020.

That's not correct. We get the pick in 2018 if it's between 11 and 16. Not before, not later.

You never know. Bledsoe may not re-sign there and Parker could continue to not be healthy. OR, Parker signing a max deal could cap strap the team so they can't improve. That franchise could be elite, or they could be middling still.
I'm content with the pick conveying a couple years from now so we don't have to worry about integrating another kid just yet.
Or Bled and Parker get hurt. That team has a lot of talent now, but a lot of question marks too. Thon and his age/health. He hasn't had much in regards to health issues, but skinny big men don't do well. Then obviously the Knees of Parker and Bled. I can see this being a Heat type first rounder, end up being better than expected. Fingers crossed. (on it being a good pick, not anyone getting hurt.)

McDonough's hour meeting with Sarver is 58 minutes of explaining protections, job done.

I like the protection (from it being a late first) this year since we have two first rounders but next year I'm not sure I would want it capped at 16. I might have gone to like 19. If they get really good, or good enough for it to be late teens, chances are they will be even better the following year and the pick will be worse in 2020 since Giannis, Middleton and Brogdon are all young...not even considering Parker...and Thon (whoever young he is). Or Bledsoe.

So, another unprotected pick in 2021? Weird but I kinda like it.

Yeah, I didn't see the more recent tweets when I made that post. I figured it was lotto protected and didn't know it had back end protection

I doubt it will fall under protection in 2020, if it makes it that far. If it does make it to 2020 there is a good chance it lands in the 20s.

We do have to cut / trade someone in the next 3 weeks to upgrade James.

Re: Season Speculation, Trade Ideas & Discussion Pt. 3
We can flip Monroe for a pick (hey Lakers)
We can flip the cap space for another pick (hey Lakers again)
This has Hinkie's blueprints all over them.

Yep, didn't read the most recent tweets regarding the first rounder. You would have thought the 2nd would have been top 46 protected, not top 47. That means if the Bucks end up in the 17th draft slot, we get no first or second this year. If they finish 18th, we get their 2nd.

How many more picks do we need we're already at 13 in the next 4 drafts.

You're kind of making my point if you will. We can't afford our talent to know how to get out of here when the going gets tough. They are our assets, Bledsoe turned out to not really be one...(tho I agree with Bwgood that today's market is different than for the Dragic/Morris trades).
I think it would make Booker and Jackson think twice before demanding a trade in the future...
