One thing to note about the pick, which I think McDonough understands, is that it is better to have a positve trade asset in the future than to get a another rookie who will sit behind our current core. Once that pick is made, it immediately loses value almost every time. I don't think McDonough intends on ever using this pick to make a draft selection, but we all know that his plans don't always work as intended.

You make draft picks sound like new cars ... oh they look so shiny and new until you drive them off the lot and then they lose so much value.

I thought it was decent value thinking it was lotto protected, but now knowing it's only top 10 protected and top 3 protected next year, and on top of that, with bottom end protection, that makes it quite a bit better. There is a reasonable chance they finish with one of the last two seeds in the east and those are 15th and 16th picks. 11-14 might be mostly western conference teams though since the conference is so deep. Maybe one eastern team in there, though the east is a lot deeper than I expected as well.

This board very much overvalued Bledsoe's trade value...which is shocking considering the Suns completely botched the situation and had no leverage
