Suns.com buried the story but they did a good job of spinning what we got and barely even mentioned Bledsoe.

grumpysaddle wrote:Trading for him now allows us to include him in trades with other players around the deadline, correct? If we didn't trade now, we wouldn't be able to trade him with other players going out, it would only be single player (Monroe) trades, right? If this is true, I'm okay with it. I think an expiring Monroe plus other assets gets back more around the trade deadline than an injury prone, disgruntled Eric Bledsoe.

Still would have liked to have gotten Brogdon back somehow. :(

I'm not sure I agree. I just don't see much of a market for an expiring Monroe.

Chandler and daniels for zizik fry and shump works. Dumps a little salary off of next yrs number and gets a young prospect.

How does Chandler help any team defensively? His only thing related to defense is "defensive" rebounds.

I agre. He brings little else other than rebounding. Just hoping Cleveland buys on his name and rep. Probably not happening.

I'd expect we'll showcase Monroe for the next month so we can trade him out and upgrade James.

I'd rather get Zubac from Lakers.

Pass. I cringe at the money still owed to Mozgov ($48m including this season)and Deng ($54m including this season)

As much as I like Dinwiddie and Randle, I don't want to see either Mozgov or Deng on our payroll

Greg Monroe is better than any of our bigs and on a 1 year deal. What's the problem?

Because what's the point? What he'll achieve this year will be meaningless anyway once he expires

The point is we got rid of a 2 year for a 1 year as well as 2 draft picks.. you know Bledsoe was sitting home collecting free money right? Not only that but we get a chance to see Monroe up close for an entire season, its not like hes a bad player. Who knows. Maybe he fits in here.

Woj reporting Monroe unlikely to last until end of season with trade the first option before buyout (obviously).

We are in a tough spot at the center position until Williams comes back. None of Len/Monroe/Chandler are here for the long haul. Williams should have been getting the lion's share of minutes but that won't be happening until late March.

I'd want Russel from the Nets to take on Mozgov which would be counter productive for them.

And I'd want Ingram from the Lakers to take on Deng.

So we made a trade for a player we didn't want in the hopes of making another trade to recoup some value?

Classic McDoesn'tEverLearn move right there.

There isn't a single team in the NBA that needs a expiring contract right now. The best player we could even hope to get back in return for Monroe is Ryan Anderson or Allen Crabbe, and there's no way either of those trade happen.

Realistically we're about to flip Monroe for Moe Harkless and Meyers Leonard, Solomon Hill and Omer Asik, or some equally unpalatable combo and a pick in the 20s. Then the McDefenders on this board will say "at least he preserved some value." Then we'll destroy those anything that's left of those players value because we, once again, will have an unbalanced roster where we're constantly struggling to get our 39 draft picks minutes while simultaneously having to play the vets to keep their trade value high. It's a never ending cycle.

The best we can hope for is for Greg to stay in Phoenix so salary is low this offseason and someone makes Sarver an offer he can't refuse. This franchise has gone from NBA cornerstone to complete dumpster fire in the last decade and change and it's pretty obvious why.

This is honestly insane to watch. We're one of the worst 5 professional sports franchises in America right now.

Giving up Bledsoe to plug a temporary hole is such a waste of an asset.

I'd rather we throw as many minutes at Len as possible as a last look to decide if he's a goner this offseason or if he's worth retaining. Adding Monroe adds depth but I don't see him sticking around either. The other roblem is I don't think there's much of a trade market for Monroe and I think Bucks did very well giving up not a whole lot for Bledsoe. We probably won't see those picks for a while.

Signing him to anything over vet minimum beyond this season is horrendous. He is an average player, and a big at that, meaning signing him to what he will likely get puts us out of max range. Maxing out somebody who is actually worth the max and maintaining that flexibility is way more valuable than him.
