We are in a tough spot at the center position until Williams comes back. None of Len/Monroe/Chandler are here for the long haul. Williams should have been getting the lion's share of minutes but that won't be happening until late March.
Giving up Bledsoe to plug a temporary hole is such a waste of an asset.
I'd rather we throw as many minutes at Len as possible as a last look to decide if he's a goner this offseason or if he's worth retaining. Adding Monroe adds depth but I don't see him sticking around either. The other roblem is I don't think there's much of a trade market for Monroe and I think Bucks did very well giving up not a whole lot for Bledsoe. We probably won't see those picks for a while.
Monroe was not acquired to plug a temporary hole. He was acquired because he is expiring. i don't understand why people here seem to think the FO wants to win. Is it because of what Sarver told the team? I mean, what's he supposed to tell the players prior to the year starting? Aim for a top pick and half ass it? He said what he has to publicly.
The FO and ownership this offseason made it damn clear what their goal was. Otherwise we probably are sitting on a $30+ mil Paul Milsap debacle. That didn't magically change before the season. We fired Earl because we were losing in a **** crazy manner that had no semblance of pro ball and that wouldn't develop the youth. We can't lose that way, but it doesn't mean the FO necessarily is trying to put us in the best position to win this season. The West is going to end up brutal and we simply don't and have no means of acquiring the horses to contend unless you want to do something crazy like move Booker and Jackson and Bender for vets. Lose this year. Get the pick. Accumulate additional picks. Get the last piece in the draft or by bundling those for a team in cap hell or with their own disgruntles guy (Porzingis, or maybe somehow Jokic if Denver ends up bombing and would rather have tons of picks for some reason). That is how you get to sustainable contention, and despite the bad PR from aging ungrateful guards who are upset with the direction of the team despite knowing the players on it and signing here simply because we offered them the best money and opportunity and then changing their minds later, I believe a ton of the youth in this league would want to team up with Booker. I think Bender, with his passing, may end up a guy others want to play with too.
