Because I can almost guarantee he wouldn't be a 60-60-90 guy at 25-30 minutes a game....and Gibson is playing damn well so far too

He's not going to put that up forever, regardless of minutes. But I assume you agree he should be playing 20-25 mpg instead of 15?

I would be happy if Bjelica finishes this season with 50-40-80 line  Yeah, Gibson is playing very well. His rebounding is impressive.

Sure, but at whose expense? I don't believe Gibson's play has warranted a drop in minutes.

Not only that but the bench unit is doing great work at the moment, seems a bit shortsighted to remove one of them and insert them into what is currently a pretty good starting unit and therefore change the chemistry in two successful groups.

Beli has been a weapon for us off the bench so far this season, long may it continue!

Perhaps he could play some minutes like SF instead Bazz who is not playing so well.

It seems like there is some chemistry between Dieng, Jones and Bjelica.

Might as well give Belly all of Shabazz's minutes.

They've mostly played at the same time. Do you propose a 4-man lineup?

You know that Bjelica can be staggered with the starting lineup and play PF and SF with a tweak to the rotation. It means less time with starting unit together but not less individual minutes for them.

I'm fine with the starting unit staying together short term since Taj/Butler are in mentor mode. That's my guess why Thibs hasn't played Bjelica more. But it's really not difficult to sub out Taj before the rest of the starters then sub out Wiggins for Dieng and finally Towns for Taj leaving Dieng/Gibson/Bjelica while our other starters rest. I would expect Thibs to start doing that once Towns/Wiggins need less mentoring.

Any think Thibs is keeping his minutes low for contract negotiations next season?
That would suck if true.

I think Belly is going to get the same money as Joe Ingles next year, around 12M per year

Has been good this season.

Can't really see him becoming any better than a solid bench player though due to his limitations.

Nothing stopping him being an important bench cog on a contending team though.
"That's why the last two years weren't guaranteed," Walsh said. "Either way, he knew it could have happened either way."

I think an Ingles-Covington range deal is possible, though I'd hold out hope he could sign for slightly less.

Do you even want to pay him that much to come off the bench?

Convington is a certified starter....
Ingles deal could end up a bad one for Utah. By the time they turn it around he may not be under contract.

I’m curious what’s the right deal for belly because he will never be a starter for the foreseeable future. Investing a combined like 34 million a year into gorgui and belly is kind of scary lol. in a bad way.

Can someone put down possible scenarios for us for FA market 2018? I see following
* Shabazz will not be re-signed earlier in offseason. Here I expect the same approach from Thibs, FO will wait to see how market for Bazz will shape out
* Bjelica will get Ingles-Covington deal from Wolves, and no I see no reason for him to sign with another team if we continue to win
* no player will be traded
* I expect a surprise from our G-League, Patton, MGH and A.Brown
* not sure if we have any mid-level exception next summer, but if we do and keep winning then I will expect a J.Crawford type move. A solid veteran for bargain deal
* I don't expect anything from our 1st round pick

Here are the guys who they'll have to make decisions on, or the players who have decisions
Crawford player option ($4,544,400)
Bazz player option ($1,795,015)
Aldrich waive/buyout
Bjelica RFA
Georges-Hunt RFA
Brooks UFA

Here's the current avenues for upgrading the roster:
MLE (amount proportionate to change in salary cap)
BAE (amount proportionate to change in salary cap)
Minimums
Rookie (OKC 1st)
