Why is Skal in the doghouse??
I thought he has looked great at both ends this season and was pushing for minutes but the last 2 games he has barely played.
Thoughts???
Kings are getting killed yet we keep giving Zach minutes and he hasn't even been doing much until the last game. Thought he was signed to mentor not be the man
Skal

Re: Skal
Zach has had a pretty decent season so far, but this is a perfect example of when a GM gives his coach too many toys to play with. I'm not as miffed about sitting, or limiting Skal as much as Buddy, Willie, or Bogdan. The truth is Skal is a bit younger than the others so he's got some more time to season, the others are on the older side for rookie contract players.
I do think it's funny however that an article by the Bee had Joerger saying teams are playing more 3's at 4 and defensively it's tough for Skal to get into the game when ZBo is getting TORCHED and I do mean TORCHED by those same players.

Re: Skal
Agreed about too many weapons. I think at the trade deadline and next offseason we will see the front office make moves to build around who they foresee as the cornerstones. This is where I get envious of teams like the Lakers. Yes, I said, it. Their young guys are out on the floor for big minutes every night. Their veterans are either on the bench or don't play a position that steals time (Brook Lopez). Nevertheless, I did advocate for having veterans help lead the young guy but with the thought that we would be FAIRLY competitive, which obviously has not been the case thus far.

This is spot on IMO.
I’m going to give Coach until the new year to form any sort of judgement. By then if he doesn’t have clear roles for this squad (and I do expect a consolidation trade by then) I will start thinking that perhaps he isn’t the guy to bring on a young squad.
Having said that we have a couple of vets that need some minutes and that will hurt the young guys in the short term.
Don’t forget this is also about perception. The perception that players will sign here and it’s a good place to come. If we treat our vets well then it will go a long way in improving our standing among players/agents etc

Re: Skal
HoopsHype took a dive into Skal's numbers. Good read.

That’s a really excellent point.
We do still have some reputation mending to do.
