If PHI took on Boban. Would even throw in a 2nd round pick.

Re: Jahlil Okafor
I think every team would be interested if the price was right.
Drama is: how good/bad is he?
After all this time we still don't really know

Re: Jahlil Okafor
We don't have the expirings this year which is the impetus for trades these days. They declined his 4th year, so he's an expiring. Also in declining that option it means the acquiring team can only offer Jah up to that amount in extension talks, but other teams can offer over that amount. So if he showed anything here, he'd be signed away.

Are you sure about that? Even if they decline his 4th option year, they should still have bird rights. I think the window to negotiate an extension would be gone, but a team could still resign him as an unrestricted free agent.
But yes, here he would likely be gone. We aren't going to go into luxury tax territory for him even if the CBA allows it.

Seems that is what was explained to me on the trade board. Acquiring team would have Bird Rights to pay up to his 4th year option amount. But a penny more and we couldn't match.
Reasoning seemingly to be so that rookie contract players couldn't leverage being released from rookie contract early so they could be paid more sorta deal.

Re: Jahlil Okafor
Why would a team voluntarily let a player out of a lower contract? They could just extend them if they wanted to keep them long term. The only team that ever tried to do that was the Cavs with carolos boozer and it blew up in their faces. They declined his option on a wink-wink deal to give him a big raise and then he bolted.
Anyway, we wouldn't match a big offer no matter what the cba says. We are way over the cap and adding another big salary would put us in luxury tax range.

Re: Jahlil Okafor
If he was drafted #20 instead of top 3? no one would give a s--t. He obviously has no defensive skills or desire to work on it. Busted pick, and seems like lack of attitude. Don't need that on our team. As much as I like a "deal", I'd rather try to get Chandler as a backup for a couple of years.

Slightly better than our Leuer/Boban pu pu platter that everyone's offering, but Philly still hangs up.
