Tank Tracker: Felicio and Nwaba to start! p67

Post#1 » by MC3 » Wed Nov 8, 2017 5:45 pm

Bulls are well projected to have top pick. We have 4th worst record but with also least games. We are 2-7. I wanted to make a thread and will likely make it so we can watch our pick over season so we dont have a waste of time discussions like this one.

http://www.tankathon.com/
1. Dallas 2-10
2. Atlanta 2-9
3. Sacramento 2-8
4. Bulls 2-7

Just because our schedule is worst I seen ever in NBA doesnt mean we wont have top pick. 3 games less than Dallas, 2 games less than Atlanta, game less than Sacramento. You dont trade a pick for player who is not future All-Star or franchise player. You keep the damn pick and pick one.

Atlanta and Dallas I could see flip the switch start winning games. We're in decent position if we can dump Robin Lopez and hold Zach Lavine from returning for as long as possible. Also get Payne back. We need him. He is a true net negative on the floor. Will only help us.

Every single team every year is a great bet to not get the top pick (bolded cause I'm not sure if you're referring to a top pick or the top pick). Even the worst team record wise has just a measly 25% chance at the top pick. That's means every year, every team that thinks they have a good chance at the top pick are fools.

SRS currently has us rated as the 7th worst team, which is roughly what I expected this year.

If we move Rolo, + Niko is gonna be gone as soon as he can play again I think we'll be well on the way. The wildcard is Zach. People assume he might have to shake off the rust, but if he's back to scoring 20 on decent efficiency we could win a few, maybe bottom 5 instead of bottom 2 which is what I want. Hopefully, we'll have enough games in hand by then for a Top 2 pick.

We must move Rolo to secure that top pick by trade deadline. If we can get good asset for him even better. He is holding our defense I would say too respectable in this moment given how bad is our offense. Certainly better than any tanking teams. Bulls are still in top 15 defensive efficency in league. Last week we were 9th. I think it will continue to drop slowly because Nwaba was big part of our defensive intensity.

I will just say compared to other tanking teams Dallas is 27th, Atlanta is 23rd and Sac 22th. I will be more comfortable with Felicio in tank role after Zach is back. Given our offense should improve by having competent scoring guard. Moving Lopez should kill and SRS discussions here.

SRS discussions won't end for quite a while. Just as people won't call Detroit the 4th best team in the league for quite a while.

Lopez should have been traded in the offseason. Not sure how much good trading him by the deadline does. The deadline is like 2/3 of the way through the season.

You say "We must move Rolo to secure that top pick". Are you aware that the worst record in the league, which is very hard in itself to "secure", has a 75% chance to NOT get that top pick? BTW we're currently 7th in defensive rating.

We just need to be top 3 for best chances. When you play lottery for anything you always want best odds to win arent you. Same goes for tank.

Officially on the bandwagon to trade Robin Lopez! He is ruining our stampede for the Top Pick!

You are mistaken. That system will not be in effect til at least the following year. For next summer, the third team has just a 15.6% chance at pick #1 compared to 25% for the worst team.

Even more reason for tank. Full on board on sale for anything we can get asset this year except Lavine and Markkanen.

I'm very curious to see what kind of return Lopez would net us, especially if he continues to play how he's been. I think we're very lucky that he's been showing out. He could easily have played badly this season and tanked his value

Sure. Pretty much all of us support tanking now that we've driven down this road. Supporting and accomplishing are two different things though.

Yeah I don't think Dallas and Atlanta will finish the season with bottom 3 records. They have too many veterans and talent to finish below the Bulls record wise.

Yeah, Phoenix has some nice young talent. I'm surprised how bad they are. I expect that they'll have an upsurge later in the year.

Dallas had early season strange losses to the Hawks & Kings. Dirk & Barnes couldn't hit the broad side of a barn in that first game. Matthews missed every damn shot he took in the 2nd. And then they got hit with the Warriors & Rockets back to back, but they got those L's out of the way now. Dallas seems like a case of a bunch of vets starting slowly.

ATL & SAC are as bad as we are.
Right now I'd say we're 3rd worst, which is fine. As long we aren't 41-41 yet another season.

Trading Lopez is an easy way to tank to the bottom but I like Lopez here to keep the team professional and mentor Markkanen. I'm not trading him until we really start winning games, and we aren't there yet. As long as Jerian can keep shooting 1-7.

I think we should trade Lopez immediately even if its for pennies on the dollar

Bulls need to have the worst record in NBA by far whenever Lavine comes back or else he has a chance to ruin it.

I wanted to trade Lopez in the summer. Guy has no future with us. Get rid of him, an show us how bad the signing of Cristiano Felicio was.

I still don't see how people could possibly believe that Lopez hurts the tank. Individually, he has not given the Bulls a higher chance to win games. Chicago is currently on pace for 18 wins and 64 losses. The worst record in the NBA last season was 20-62.

Their next 8 games:

Indiana
@San Antonio
@Oklahoma City
Charlotte
@Phoenix
@Lakers
@Utah
@Golden State

The only thing Lopez does is prevent the Bulls from being is an exaggeration of a bad team, like Philadelphia was. They don't need to be an exaggeration of a bad team to tank successfully. If they can get a first round pick, they should trade him, but he absolutely does not hurt the tank.
