The most important part of this post is just that they would be fools to pay him a lot. It's much too risky. They're better off saving that salary slot to add an MLE player every year. As long as they don't go into the lux tax, they can use the full MLE, and as long as they have Giannis, some of the best MLE players will at least consider Milwaukee.

I agree that it's a little unfair to imply that his letter affected the Toronto series. I do have issues with the letter but that's not one of them. It's correct to point out why the letter was kind of inappropriate, but I doubt it affected the Bucks. It did leave me wondering about his agent's role, and I was really disappointed with the way he acted like he's still so important to the team and a leader. Did it not register at all that they were arguably better without him? Is it too much to ask for him to at least ONCE acknowledge that he needs to improve on defense? He did interject himself unnecessarily. I wish we had a more detailed account of what happened in that team meeting where all the vets shot him down for speaking up, but there's evidence (albeit circumstantial) of a MAJOR disconnect between what Jabari's actually place is on the team and what he thinks it is. Asking for a max deal in his situation doesn't help. He won't improve on defense if he's so delusional about his impact that he doesn't think he needs to. Just because he has a more likable persona than Big Dog doesn't mean he's any better on the court.

Where were you during all those debates? We could have used you. I had forgotten all about the Lillard debates very early on. Wow. What a miserable thing to think about at this hour. Other trade debates you forgot to mention include Porter/Gortat, Hood/Exum, Hood/Favors, the 2017 or 2018 BK pick, the Jaylen Brown pick, Jokic, Conley, and Cousins. They were almost all hated here, and there was a poll where something like 80% of people said they wouldn't trade Jabari unless they got a top 10-15 player in return. It was a really bad time to be here if you didn't have a thick pair of homer glasses to wear at all times.

I actually don't think it is unfair to say he had some part in the fiasco that took place in the Toronto series. That long self-promoting letter became a real distraction. It was all over the local and national media. Even during the National TV broadcasts the commentators were saying how much better the Bucks would be doing if Parker was there. If I was on the team and hustled my butt off only to take a backseat to a Diva, it could very well affect my focus and hustle. Then when we lost the series, everyone was saying if only Jabari was playing we would have won. This, after he had nothing to do with why the team was in the playoffs in the first place.

I would have no problem if he tweeted and one or two sentence post encouraging his teammates, but instead he wrote life story and became the story. This selfish act took away from how amazing and hard the Bucks played to earn a playoff spot. I do believe it was a distraction and did cause a lack of focus and hustle. After this letter the Bucks looked like a completely different team. You can't tell me players were not talking about it among themselves.

This is an absolutely insane take. I’ve read it three times in a row just to see if it was real, and I’m still not sure. This was barely even a local story, much less a huge distraction due to national attention. This is a masterpieces of trolling and I, for one, respect the hustle here.

This is a pathetic opinion. The guy wrote an article praising his team, city, and culture, and you've got the audacity to call it a d-bag move?

Why did he write it? Maybe he didn't just want to sit around and mope during his recovery? Maybe - for a guy who had blown his ACL for a second time and was helplessly watching his team compete from afar - this was his way of contributing to a positive team culture by offering support and encouragement and belief in his team and city? Maybe, just maybe, he just wanted to express his appreciation for his teammates? Maybe it isn't for the nefarious reasons you're implying?
One problem with your argument. Jabari didn't write this article. His agent wrote this article to get him out there on the big stage with lots of National Exposure. The timing of the whole thing is so obvious.

He also put fluoride in city water supply, hooked up chemtrail releasing mechanisms to the team jet, and made all of the frogs around Lake Michigan gay.

I think it's an inaccurate and a dumb thing to judge someone on, and basically trying to find stuff to justify the way you're already thinking. Some pretty clear jumping to conclusions.

But to argue this in any way affected the teams performance in the games is a complete joke and makes absolutely no sense. A Skip Bayless level of horrible take. Makes me think of the Monix quote in Semi Pro: Does anybody here wanna talk about the effing game?

You are one of my favorite posters on here. You are always fair and considerate to other posters. In this instance I have to disagree with you to some extent. First I am not attacking or judging Jabari's character by what transpired in that letter. I think he got advice from his agent that he needs to build his worth with this franchise post injury or he wasn't getting that big contract he would have and should have gotten if he doesn't. He hired this agent to maximize his earning potential so off course he would listen to a successful agent like Bartlestein. We all know the type of contracts that Bartlestein has secured for other injury riddled clients of his.

As to whether or not, this affected the team after they just went up 2 games to 1. I think completely dismissing this idea without further analysis would be a mistake. Again, I am not saying that Jabari came up with this idea on his own.

Imagine yourself being a member of Bucks. They day after you just won one of the biggest playoff games in bucks more recent history and all you hear about on Twitter, Facebook, ESPN, Fox is about a teammate who isn't out their fighting for the win and yet is getting most all of the attention. Now move forward, to the pregame. Reporters are asking the Bucks players what they thought of Jabari's amazing letter. They are not asking the players about their contributions to being up two games to one. The players in a way are being treated like chopped liver. The media keeps asking them how much better they would be if only Jabari was around.

Many of these players were in their first or second playoff series. The were excited and their emotions were riding high. Now here comes some other drama to take away some of what they had accomplished. I think something like this does have an effect. How big of an effect, who knows.

If you watched game 4, it was hard to believe this was the same team. They were lifeless, emotionless and completely over matched and they never regained that fire they had shown in the first three games. Did this saga contribute to this, even in a small way? I say yes. For those who don't agree.... what is your theory how a team with so much excitement and energy could do a complete 180 degrees nose dive after being up two games to one?

The reason the team collapsed in the playoffs? Well, our 2nd best player was a non factor on the floor. The Raptors best players started playing much better after being about as bad as they could possibly be to start the series. We had minimal experience in the playoffs and actually overcoming adversity. Yeah, we came out strong and punched Toronto in the mouth, but they took our best shot and then responded. We had no answer for a team that was mentally tough enough to not lose to themselves, it just took them 3 games to get their **** together and adjust to us. You remember that key 2nd half stretch where everyone is begging Kidd to leave Jason Terry in the game because he's our best player at that moment who is barely keeping us in the series?

I could go on. The point is that there are a large number of reasons the team lost to Toronto in the playoffs. But Jabari's letter? Maybe 100th on that list of reasons. Maybe. And besides, if that letter truly shook any of our guys that badly as was suggested...trade every last one of them. There's no overcoming that level of 'effed in the head and we will never win with players who would get thrown off by that letter.

Everyone is entitled two their own opinions. I respect those who chose to look at positives and overlook the negatives when it comes to Jabari. I myself believe the past two season of up and downs are pattern that will continue. The ultimate decision is coming. A few of believe that taking the logical step is to turn Jabari into the best possible asset we can acquire now and not take the biggest risk in franchise history. Others want to gamble. I guess if you were willing to overlook all the red flags from day one, why not see it through to the end.
Please don't ridicules those who think it is time to move on. We lived this saga once already with Michael Redd. Fortunately back then it wasn't at the risk of a generational player leaving the Bucks for better opportunity. This time it is 10 times more critical we don't mess this up. Keep that in mind.

It's one thing to debate whether to move on or sign him to a mega deal given his ACL injuries. There are cases to be made for both sides. But to argue that a p.r. letter factored into a playoff series loss...

There are two posters on this page who normally have well articulated opinions on what they post here, but for some reason when it comes to Jabari Parker, churn out some pretty whacky shi-.

If you over simplify the entire saga down to a simple p.r. letter then yes there would be little chance it had any impact. Having said that, I remember how this thing was everywhere. It even made it into my Facebook newsreel. It was talked about more than the actual amazing play the team demonstrated through the first three games.

This wasn't the first incident where Jabari went to the media and caused a distraction in the Bucks locker room. On January 23rd, of 2017 Jabari was benched by his teammates, yes his teammates and not Jason Kidd. This was in response for Jabari sharing with Media information that took place in the Bucks locker room. Apparently Jabari was able to affect the team in that instance, so maybe dejavu took place after the players heard about this letter while they were in a huge playoff series.

The other factor that your overlooking is that players like to be asked about their successes and how they did this or that. The day this came out, the first question each player had to answer was about Jabari. If I had just played a great game less than 24 hours ago and no one was asking me how I did it, but instead were focusing on some gushy story, it would be distracting or deflating to me as well. The fact is, the game after this came out, the Bucks looked flat, unmotivated and out of sync. It was if some great force sucked the energy right out of them. I am sure they might have been a little emotionally sprung from the previous three games but this story and the way it unfolded had to be somewhat of a distraction. It is not that big a leap to say it had some kind of negative impact on the team even if only in a minor way.

A: It wasn't nearly as big of a story as your making it out to be. You continue to say "the first question they were asked was assbout Jabari after a big win" and quite honestly that wasn't the case. In fact I can't remember a single player ever responding to in the media. Did it come up once or twice? Probably. But it's not like they were digging for quotes from Jabari teammates. In fact if you'd be so kind would you please actually post some of the responses the players had if there were so many?

B: sorry but a sports story popping up on FB regarding a sport you follow on a team you most likely "liked" isn't actually indicative of a story being a big deal. If that's the case holy cow when the Packers cut or sign a 3rd string lineman it must be a huge story because it pops up on FB at least 6 different times.

C: If you wanna hold serve on this argument I sure hope your holding the same stance against Giannis as a person as the moment he started farming national attention, giving interviews and having articles written about him the Bucks have had a lot of trouble winning. Perhaps his teammates are distracted by being asked about Giannis and how great he is after the team started off hot. They must have had the wind sucked out of them by the media giving all the credit for the wins to Giannis (see how that sounds?)

D: If this was a distraction for any player, (it wasn't), then please trade them now. If a guy gets distracted by being asked a question over something as ordain as this then they'll fold the moment anything relevant comes up.
