This is an interesting thing to look at.
Boston to me is such a unique case because they started their rebuild by trading two hall of fame vets and just robbed the nets that its not fair to compare them to a normal rebuild. By getting those picks and pick swaps and the nets instantly being bad it allowed them to do the rare win and rebuild at the same time. They've done a good job with the picks so super hat tip to them but we may never see this senario play out again in our lifetime.
I'm not sure the lakers are really in that better of a spot than the suns other than the fact they are the lakers so might land some good fas next year and they have also simply beem luckier in the lotto getting the 2 pick 3 years in a row. But hell kuzma might be better than any of those guys taken at 2.
Phily is the interesting comparison. They started the "process" the same year as the suns and have had some major misses in okafor, noel, and mcw. But it sure looks like they got some hits in embiid and Simmons. Whats funny is people point at the misses when making fun of the process but really the whole point of the process was getting in the top 5 enough to be able to miss a couple times and still get a couple core players. What they also did that was smarter than the suns was use their cap space to absorb bad contracts and get picks from Sacramento instead of doing dumb **** like signing Tyson **** chandler. They also threw developmental minutes at a ton of young guys insteded of wasting them on vets like the suns did and for it they were able to find guys like Covington and Holmes. Their discipline and luck in the rebuild process trumped what the suns did.
