Lonzo is struggling mightily to score and shoot the ball, but his distributing and defense have been good. The foundation for him being a good basketball player is there.

With all his scoring woes, he's still a neutral value performer and not a negative one like people are making him out to be.

Who cares if you are an elite passer when you can’t create gravity and will just clog the lanes?

The game isnt played like NBA jam that is 90% on transition.

I dont know which talk show said it. But him being an average scorer (14ppg) in NCAA just confirms the red flag.

I don't think anyone should have expected Ball to be a big time scorer, especially early on.... but he still managed to post 14.6 PPG along with 6 reb 7.6 apg 1.8 stl and .8 blocks as a freshman PG in college. He also scored those points with pretty good efficiency and shot a high % from not only the field, but 41% from 3 on over 5 att a game.

Say what you want, but those are fantastic numbers for any player in the NCAA, yet alone a freshman.

Balls built to make plays for others, stuff the stat sheet and play within an uptempo, pass happy offense. Not score 20 PPG by shooting like Steph Curry.Yes,His mechanics are certainly awkward and they are likely the issue with getting his shot off in the NBA against athletic, NBA caliber defenders.....but time will tell if he can adjust. But outside of the circus around him and his fathers non-sense antics.....I don't get the hate on him. He graded out as a very good prospect coming into the NBA and I think he still does despite his struggles to shoot/score in his first 11 NBA games. He still does other things on the floor to justify being out there.

He scored 13points or less on 15 out of 36 games. Doesnt look like a scorer in college and in small sample size right now. Much more if you factor his shooting defect where there are several ways to shut him down like not letting him dribble to his left for him to not be able to get the shot off on his left side (says ESPN).

Lonzo isn't the same caliber of player in every offensive scheme. He's sort of system-dependent. Put him in a traditional iso/p&r scheme like Walton's, he's going to struggle and have to adapt. Put him in a motion offense and watch out.

His distributing actually has not been great. I mean he runs a fast break well but once he gets into a half court offense he struggles to break down defenses off the dribble. Watching Irving last night it was like watching a cat play with a mouse.

Irving could do anything he wanted offensively off the dribble and when he decided to pass he got his teammates wide open looks. If his 3PT shot was on he easily could have dropped 30 on ball. I do commend Ball for giving effort on the defensive end but he'll never be a good or great defensive PG with his lack of athleticism.

I will agree the foundation for a good basketball player is there but you don't draft 2nd overall to find yourself a good player. You draft 2nd overall to find yourself a great one or at least an allstar caliber player. Ball doesn't look anywhere close to those two. He looks like another Ricky Rubio.

i'm not gonna draft a system player with a #2 pick. been saying for a while now that fultz is a very good passer and facilitator. there's no reason for him not to flourish in a motion offense, as a scorer and as a facilitator.

He needs to be analyzed as a #2 overall pick. Top 3 picks are supposed to be stars.

No one would care about Okafor's trajectory if he was drafted in the 2nd round.

He was born to play in a motion offense. It's why Steve Alford literally installed it for one year to accommodate him.

Walton isn't doing that, though. He's running iso/p&r.

Even though Walton spent time as an assistant in Golden State. Which runs motion.

He's not like a running back though. A good NBA player should be good in any system. He's just not good right now. Someday.

who knew the lakers wouldn't be able to make a typical outlet pass without the presence of lonzo ball. hockey assists are now worthy of becoming highlight clips!

It’s amazing the mental gymnastics Lakers PG stans will go through to cape for their boy.

Rooting for Ball to get a triple double in a blowout.

Yet the only category where he currently has a double is missed shots.

The good news is his 3-10 would raise his FG%.
