Didn't he block the piss out of someone last night against the backboard?

He's looking totally gassed, has zero lift, and is icing both of his knees at age 23. We should all be concerned here.

Embiid's lack of conditioning is becoming extremely concerning. He needs to get back down to the 260 to 270 range.

His body can't handle the weight it seems.

he had a chase down block against klay and a pretty impressive put back dunk (where he hung onto the rim in order to land properly). people just like to exaggerate to try and prove their points.

Or maybe he simply lost mobility and explosiveness after his last meniscus injury.

His meniscus injury was ages ago and its a routine procedure in pro sports. If he's still recovering, or if it didn't properly heal then it's strike 4797658 against our medical staff.

Yeah, the fact that he is heavier and not in great shape yet completely explains what we see.

He was cleared for 5 on 5 basketball just a month ago, and he has been playing a lot of minutes. Where will he be in another month?

If he continues to play 30 minutes a game for the next month he will improve.

That or he gets injured (again)

Let's hope he get's his weight and conditioning under control because I think it's already proven enough that injuries occur mostly when your body is tired and worn out.

I usually listen to opponents telecast when I watch replay. And they say that when Biid went to his recent trip with Dirk (africa?), the guys on the team were really impressed with his basketball IQ. Thus you see Biid plays like a vet with all the flopping to get attention of reps, the dirty tricks like rip through and how he easily learn new moves. I'm not worried about him long term.

But for now, I think he only has a few effective moves on ISO and at the post, that I dont think he's that equipped yet to score in volume against great defense.

I'm not convinced it's entirely on him being out of shape. When someone is merely out of shape they're still usually able to maintain or at least show flashes of their speed and athleticism, just for shorter periods before they get winded. Joel looks like he's wearing cement shoes compared to last year.

I love this forum. We are always in panic mode :D

He just needs some time to get in better shape. I'm pretty sure he will be the crazy athlete he was last season, something around christmas. Just give him and the coaches some time.

again, selective perception. people remember his highlight plays from last season and forget the times he's struggled. it's understandable, because there are quite a lot of highlight videos out there for a guy who's only played about 40 games in his career. but i think he looked quite athletic on that 4th qtr missed monster dunk against the pacers. it didn't go in obviously, but there was some force behind it. same thing when you watch the putback dunk he had last night. he's obviously not quite where he needs to be with his conditioning, and they've acknowledged that. but i don't see too much of a cause for concern yet.

(broken record) this is what happened to OK4 last year. the good news is that Jah now seems pain free and seems to be in better shape than ever. the question is whether this was with the help of, or despite, our medical staff. (maybe it won't help, but wouldn't hurt JoJo to go vegan.)

If I could sucker some team in a good trade I'd get rid of him.

Long term I'm not really sure we should be playing this uptempo with him in the game. He's too big to be trying to play at our pace. Even if he slims down and get's in better shape it can still be an issue.

Yeah, we’re really not going to compete with just Ben. You can’t win with just one superstar and our stars happen to compliment one another. Perhaps check out Ben’s numbers with and without Embiid...

And yet by just about every measurement he’s playing just as well this season. He’s not himself, but I don’t think it warrants the types of freak outs people are having.

Yeah lol.

The guy is putting up 20/10 and we're like a million points better with him on the court. He'll get in better shape as the year goes on just like last year.
