He should have a ppsition. The kid’s hit tool is supposed to be there and to move on from him is to welcome a platoon in LF.

This is why I’ve been against THEORETICALLY referring to him as bait (this doesn’t mean I wont trade him). He’s too good for that. He has tools and a position.

A guy like Willie who was fat with ONE tool? Bait.
Verdugo? No way.

That sucks. I thought part of AA’s deal coming here was that he had been a GM and was comfortable being a part of this front office as opposed to a head guy. I also thought he moved his family to LA too and that showed how much he was comfortable not being the head guy in the FO.

With whatever turmoil was going on in Atlanta this year, coupled with what I stated previously, it’s kind of a head scratcher.

P.S.
Also....wonder how much he had to do with Morrow coming here being they were both Blue Jays.

A good indication that the Dodgers are at the forefront of baseball operations is that other teams are pursuing our front-office personnel. Gabe Kapler, whom I've always thought was at least a bit overrated, went to the Phillies. This also pertains to our coaching staff. Obviously, Rick Honeycutt would be well sought after should he be interested in leaving, but Matt Herges was just hired by the Giants to be their bullpen coach. I'm not only disappointed in losing Herges to our rivals since he seemed to do wonderful work with our young pitchers (Urias in particular), but the Dodgers didn't seem inclined to keep him around for whatever reason, which reminds me of letting Mike Scioscia go for the sake of newcomer Davey Johnson back in the day.

With regards to Alex Anthopoulos, it was clear from the beginning that this was a rest stop until he was offered a more prominent position to his liking. He previously turned down offers to interview with other clubs, because frankly those organizations were in bad shape and lacking in resources. Overseeing the Braves' operations was too good to pass up despite the imminent penalties that will be imposed upon them.

Anthopoulos was cool hanging out and working with the Dodgers because it was a great environment and offered a lot of insight for him to utilize later on in his future role. At the same time, I was hoping he'd have helped us with his own contributions since he pulled off the trade for Josh Donaldson in impressive fashion. Like Quake said, maybe he had a hand in bringing Brandon Morrow over.

In any case, I wish him luck unless it's against us, but at least if affords the Dodgers with another organization that we can deal easily with, although it is unlikely that we'll be able to fleece them like before in the Alex Wood trade. Given the respective connections to our front office, the Braves, Athletics and Rays provide familiar partners with possibly advantageous relationships, though I wouldn't expect it to be too overt often.

For some reason I thought AA was only here for ONE year and not two.

Given that he spent 2 seasons here, it makes more sense to me. He waited until he got the opportunity he wanted and left.

The Dodgers' front office is known for keeping things close to the vest and pulling off deals from out of nowhere. Heck, Friedman & Co. did exactly that with the previous regime in Miami through the Dee Gordon trade, so you know new owner Derek Jeter is the one leaking LAD's interest in Giancarlo Stanton. Even the Los Angeles Times' beat writer had no clue that the Dodgers are involved and has since had to do some back-pedalling. Stanton is known to prefer the West Coast with the Dodgers in particular given that he grew up rooting for the franchise a la Sergio Romo.

It also seems like Jeter and his staff are already trying to do damage control with initial reports stating that Stanton does not want to go to either Boston or St. Louis. The Red Sox are kicking the tires but are apparently focusing on other bats like J.D. Martinez or maybe Eric Hosmer. The Cardinals are supposedly hot-and-heavy for Stanton, but his no-trade clause provides an obstacle on top of his contract commitment.

On top of all that, Miami is asking for the moon right now unconvincingly trying to get another team to take the bait. I seriously doubt there is a chump like Dave Stewart for the Diamondbacks who will fall for that lame attempt to generate a bidding war. Everyone knows that Miami wants to shed salary and, by leaking the Dodgers' involvement, Jeter might have shot himself in the foot since Stanton could reject any trade until he is directed to the Dodgers or at least the Giants, Angels, or maybe even Padres.

It's interesting to discover that the Dodgers reportedly pursued Tommy Pham even though we already have Chris Taylor. Was the aim to move CT3 to 2B where most of us feel is a better position for him? Or was the front office aiming to eventually deal away some of our outfield depth? Of course, having 2 players like Taylor and Pham on the same team would be a benefit regardless. Still, one can't help but wonder what the intent was behind such a pursuit.

Any interest in Stanton boggles my mind. This team is still in the market for a solid #2 behind Kershaw and in all likelihood is going to trade for it (I originally thought we’d re-sign Yu).

In a calendar year, we’d be presumably doing 2 blockbusters?

It’s very Dombrowski-esque. I’m not that interested unless I get the sense from our FO that they don’t really like the prospects they’ve developed...I dont get that sense at all.

This is why I’m typically into standing pat...smh.
