^I honest to goodness had no idea Elfrid Payton was that tall. (6'3")

And that haircut of his always makes me think of a flock of seagulls for some reason.

Ca-caw! Ca-caw! Yep, it fits.

Other than seagulls, it makes me think of a trying-to-hard millenial who's lucky he has a job that allows him to walk around looking like an idiot.

Too strong?

I'm always waiting for birds to fly out of Payton's hair, or something much worse.

While I don't have the same reaction that spud2 has to these teenage boys  , I must admit it's pretty cool to imagine us attaining some high-end talent either via draft or trading a lotto pick for an established young star.

Makes these L's worthwhile I guess.

Ummmm...do you mind here? After the last few weeks..fine I'll say it ...TOO SOON!

No but seriously the last time I had this feeling was 2005...Marv..uhhh..2007..Alice..

The Magic got Elfrid Payton back and immediately blew out a Knicks team missing Kristaps Porzingis. He has an absurd on court net rating of 19.3. When he's healthy, they may be legitimate.

Doncic might legitimately be the best player on the 31st best basketball team on the planet, at just 18 years old. That's insane to me.

Yeah, the thought of Luka at age 26 seems like it'd be insanely fun to root for.

If he's this good as a teen....he'll be even better in his prime.

NOTE: I also suspect Real Madrid is better than the 31st best team on the planet.

1. Kings — Luka Doncic, Real Madrid

Until someone knocks him off his perch, Real Madrid’s Luka Doncic resides in the No. 1 spot. Where else would it make sense to slot an 18-year-old averaging 16.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 25.9 minutes per game across all European competitions this season?

Doncic is not an elite athlete, which has many people concerned about his potential upside, but he’s young enough that some additional body development could improve his own athleticism.

3. Hawks — Michael Porter Jr., Missouri

Missouri’s Michael Porter Jr. also has the potential to challenge for the No. 1 pick, and he’ll have plenty of offensive highlights for teams to peruse over in the lead-up to the draft. [T]he 6-10 forward is a great scorer, whether it’s facing up to beat defenders off the dribble or backing them down in the mid-post, Porter should ultimately be capable of giving buckets to just about anyone.

The questions surrounding Porter will largely relate to whether he can do anything else well.

4. Cavaliers (via Nets) — DeAndre Ayton, Arizona

The 7-foot center with a 7-5 wingspan and a 9-3 standing reach has good positional size for a player NBA teams will want to be the centerpiece of their defense. Ayton has the potential to be just that as a rim protector.

What’s more intriguing about Ayton, though, is his offensive versatility, which could give a team some of the benefits of going small without actually going small. He can knock down shots out of pick-and-pops or hit spot up college 3s.

...the big question with Ayton is his motor. If he competes at a high level consistently, he could be the best player in the draft. That just didn’t always happen in high school.

7. Sixers (via Lakers) — Miles Bridges, Michigan State

Bridges can offer a hyper athletic wing with a decent shooting touch and plenty of defensive versatility. At 6-7, he should prove capable of being a multi-positional defender at the next level. He also brings some nice weak side rim protection.

Offensively, Bridges is still developing. He’s going to play more small forward this season, so we’ll get a chance to see what he looks like with the ball in his hands more often after his role as a small-ball power forward as a freshman

I agree with the above and am now putting this kid in the mix for...top 5 consideration.

He's got some Aaron Gordon to him.

Some draft stuff from last night's games ...

https://www.si.com/nba/2017/11/15/nba-draft-champions-classic-kentucky-duke-kansas-michigan-state-marvin-bagley

Sounds like Carter (Duke) was less than impressive. Just 1 game but seems to jibe with the concerns I have for him. Seems to lack high-end athleticism to justify lotto consideration.
