It's just a matter of time before Ernie invents the word veteranocity. Kief and Ian add veteranocity to the rostrum. Of course, one has feet stuck in clay, and the other looks like he's trying to catch soap bubbles when the basketball comes his way.

He's a modern day small ball C. He can also play PF or SF. The guy's NBA career isn't going to be over after this season.
Like Ruzious and others have posted, it would be great to approach Golden State on a humanitarian level and request a trade. He CAN play for the Wizards. Way the hell better than Mahinmi.
With Looney it's just a question of whether his injuries have made him too slow & stiff -- or if it looks to be a sure thing that they will do that in the short term.
Given that the Warriors have 9 guys for next year who will cost them $130m, & therefore are certainly in need of good/cheap/young players, the fact that they didn't pick up his option makes me think he may dead-ended physically. If so, too bad -- he has a lot of ability.
The guy blocked three shots in a game the other day.
Whatever he's got left just invest for the short run.

He had a bad game last night - maybe bad enough to keep him nailed to the bench. So if Ernie would just pick up the phone and call GS now, he might get him for basically nothing. They gave up his rights for next season, so he's got next to no value to GS. To paraphrase John Lennon, All we are saying is give Looney a chance.

As long as we understand he is PURE rental. He is a UFA with no bird rights, so we would be getting him purely for a post season run and the outside possibility that he loves playing with us and stays for MLE.
Mahinmi, Smith and our 1st for Noel, Powell, 2nd works. Gets us below Lux Tax, and we get TPE.
Mavs move from 33/34 in the draft up to 21/22

Playing out of his mind, but no way it last. A 50% improvement in his 3PT% and 20% on his 2PT% is just nuts for a player in his 9th year.

You'd need a 3rd team involved to take that 2nd rounder for cash considerations, though.

I think we would have Bird Rights on him, just not RFA rights. We would be able to exceed the salary cap to sign him without using the MLE. We wouldn't have any means of compelling him to stay with us even if we offered the most money.

Nate, Im pretty sure the Mavs have bird rights, but that does not carry to the team the trades for him. Thats why it may be worth trading for him... His value is in the basement. Pure rental that isnt a starter and has a limited skill set. At this point I would trade Smith straight up for him and save 1M plus tax, but im not even that thrilled about that trade.
Detroit and NOP are pretty interesting fits

In his first 47 minutes w/ the Nets, Nik Staukas is making me look like an idiot for dismissing him. He's playing great.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves - Part 6
A couple of years ago, CCJ was touting a kid named Dwight Buycks as an undrafted PG w/ potential. He's been a 2-way player for Detroit this year, & since Reggie Jackson went down & Ish Smith became the starter, Buycks has been the main backup to Smith.
Detroit has converted him from 2-way to a regular contract. A nice success story -- & another data point showing CCJ's ability to pick 'em.

Knicks waiving Ramon Sessions to pick up Trey Burke.
It's amazing how many chances you get if you were a lottery pick.

You cant dismass his G League stats. per 36 of 26/5/3... All with a a TS of 59%, a usage of 30%, and 2:1 AST:TOV ratio.
When we signed him I liked him in theory next to Sato. He can get his own shot and spread the floor.
Fact is, he should have a 3PTr of 45% or more, yet it was only 27% with us despite shooting 44%. That made zero sense.

Man, Ramon Sessions' production fell off a cliff after he left Washington.
It's interesting, he was never a particularly skilled player, but he was just quick enough and savvy enough to get a half-step on a defender and then fling himself into the defender to draw the foul. He was sort of a poor man's James Harden, without the 3-point shot. That one skill really worked for him for about 8 years and he had a nice career as a respectable backup PG. But as soon as he turned 30, he lost just a little bit of that quickness and it destroyed the entire foundation of his game. His ORtg last year was 103 (down from 110 with the Wizards). His ORtg in limited minutes in New York was 84.

It would be nice to have Ramon Sessions back on this team as the veteran backup combo-guard that we need.payitforward wrote:Knicks waiving Ramon Sessions to pick up Trey Burke.
