The Pelicans would win this game. How many shots did he take, and miss, or drive inside where his
shot was blocked. It got so bad, I was saying, "Go ahead Dennis. Shoot and miss." - :banghead:

Collins had an 8pt 4th quarter IIUC. #BallerBrand <- is this a thing? Felt right.

Dennis caught Baze Syndrome trying too hard to prove he da man. Him blind-driving into blocks was basically letting the 'Cans off the hook.

I'm especially mad because, had we won, I was gonna commence calling them the Pelican'ts. Dang :x

I didn't know they could review a block or any foul call really other than to see if there was a foot on the line. No way that was a charge though so they got it right. That was a dangerous play.

What the hell is going on with putting the ball in Baze's hands for the final play. That's stupid and that's on Bud or on Dennis but i'm guessing it's on Bud. Baze has been playing a lot better lately but he's going to have to go if Bud continues to try to prove to everyone that he's worth his contract. Catch and shoot, slasher, play D. Quit trying to be Steph. It ain't happening. The result of that play should create a permanent ban on Baze running the offense.

Baze was Dennis' little helper in seeing that N.O. won this game. Dennis missed 13 of 18 shots, including
all 4 of his attempts from down town. Didn't count the passes he had that didn't connect. Time after time
he attempted to dribble the air out of the ball.

Baze seems to be out of control sometimes. He played very well, making steals and scoring. But, when
it really mattered, he couldn't hit his free throw and he couldn't get his shot off. Somewhere in this time
frame. Dennis threw the ball away. Throwing it in the area of our young rookie PF, but far enough off to
be sure he couldn't hit another three. (He was already 4-4 from down town)

A tank is a tank is a tank but, gee whiz. Let's win a game now and then - - - PLEASE !!

I don't know why Dennis thought that driving on Anthony Davis all those times in the 4th quarter would result in any success after he had already been stifled throughout the game. Davis is arguably the second best rim protector in the NBA behind Gobert and it felt like Schroder just wanted to prove a point that he could win that matchup at least once.

Huge respect for Coach Bud actually making this team watchable and competitive most nights, because with the talent it has, this team has no business being even close in all of these games.

oh hey your alive. Good to see you posting friendo. Yea Pelicans made this game easily winnable. But a lot to like if you're the Hawks. Not from a player development standpoint as this team lacks talent. But I think Bud can easily establish a culture of team oriented ball that serves ATL well going forward. His offensive and defensive style just looks really appealing to me.

Good to see you as well. I really have to get back on to the T&T Games forum in the next few weeks.

There's been some fear around here that a Coach Bud and Travis Schlenk partnership won't work out, but it would be a serious mistake for the Hawks to let Coach Bud slip away. He's the perfect coach to guide and grow young players through a rebuild, and he's the single reason why we're not getting blown out of the building every night.

I hear you Gramps - this was the first game of the season that Dennis annoyed me. Taking ill advised shots and driving over and over into the paint and getting his shot blocked. The kick out was there on several plays.
Last 2 games he's shot 7 for 34 that .205% and a whopping 0.000% from 3 (missed all 7 - 3 pointers), 10 assists with 8 TURNOVERS. He might be fatigued, he has a lot on his shoulders but that's not a good look. I've noticed some of the ball handling going to Baze alot. Hurry back Bembry, hopefully breaking his wrist helps his shot (or do I have it wrong  ), he's have to change his mechanics.

I'm not there anymore, but yea it looks like it's still going strong.

On coach Bud, I'm jealous. I think you saw what Alvin Gentry was capable of last night. Yes a lot of Boogie's turnover were on himself. But a lot of it is just very little offensive flow and letting those long Atlanta players just sit on passing lanes with little offensive movement and on defense we looked nowhere near as crisp as y'all on rotations and I believe our announcer said you were the third least experienced team in the NBA? Pretty amazing. I'm never sure how much credit blame to distribute to players too though. Atlanta played hard despite playing 3 games in 4 days and maybe the New Orleans players are just dumb and not executing properly. But either way there's a huge difference to how prepared a team must feel with Bud than with AG.

Dear Pelican fan,

Thank you for your visit to the Hawks board.

Why are the last pelican? Is it lonely/slow at your board?

Do you guys need some visitors there?

New Orleans definitely needs a coaching upgrade. The fact that Cousins and Davis couldn't totally dominate a team with a frontcourt with very little experience is a bad sign for the Pels.

I like to visit the boards of opposing teams in gameday threads. Glad the Hawks have a nice community here. I'd like to increase the Pels board popularity. There's a team forum that gets 300 post gameday threads, so we do have fans but just not a huge RealGM presence (actually pretty much nonexistent).

The sig is a running gag mostly btw

I've just always preferred RealGM because I feel like fans here keep up with the rest of the NBA better than team specific forums and like interacting with fans from other teams.

Read on Twitter

1. The Hawks controlled most of the game with the best formula they’ve got: good pace, sharing the ball, forcing turnovers with scrappy defense and making open shots. It was a much better effort than the one at Washington on Saturday. The Hawks fell apart at the end, though. Their demise started when Dennis Schroder got tunnel vision at winning time and kept forcing shots at the basket against Anthony Davis, which predictably didn’t go well.
2. 8. During the game Fox Sports Southeast reporter Andre Aldridge said coach Mike Budenholzer and Schroder had a spirited discussion following a defensive lapse by the point guard.

Two consecutive games that Bud hadto get on players for defensive lapses - first Taurean now Dennis. Get it together boys.

Good close game, the young guys learned alot, but at the end of the day the tank is the most important.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
