Thank you for applying some much needed context. Hard to compare, especially with Frank coming off the bench and playing on a team with a guy who's been at a top 5 level all season.
Both will be great IMO.
I see more and more Derrick Rose/Steve Francis in DSJ; great scoring guard, above average passer, mediocre defender. Those players these days gets you highlights on ESPN, they don't win you games that matter.
Frank is a playmaker and flashes elite perimeter defense. The caveat is when he gains the confidence to make scoring plays for himself.
Rather have a PG that can defend and make plays for others than a flashy player that carries very little of everything else. Both will be good players though, just in a different way.
There's plenty of flashy players that also have a big impact on winning. Somehow having the ability to be flashy has been spun as a negative as a defense mechanism to defend the Frank pick. As if Kyrie and Curry, two guys with plenty of sizzle, aren't wearing rings from the last 3 years.
How you mold the ability is what matters. DSJ is under the tutelage of Carlisle, who has been an absolute warlock with PGs. They're going to get a top 5 pick to pair with this kid and probably another lottery pick after that. Let's see how his game translates to winning when the team has actual talent.
I have zero buyers remorse with the Frank pick. Not sure why folks still feel the need to defend it. He's been great.
