Nice to see Monroe listed as questionable. Means he may actually suit up for us soon (at all)

Pistons were unwilling to pay him what he wanted. Not sure he liked playing with Drummond much but SVG didn't care about losing him.

Detriot realized early you couldn't play him with another traditional big because of spacing problems.

He does fit ok with guys like bender and chriss because they can protect the rim and stretch the floor. I wouldn't mind them giving him a look just to see what a player like him looks stylistically in the offense. It could help determine who they target in the draft or FA.

If we play Monroe, we have to trade Chandler or Len. Len won't give up his bird rights, I'm fairly confident. So our options are to buyout Monroe, or trade one of Monroe or Chandler. Tyson's good for our kids, and we might be able to use him next year as well.

Monroe would give us something none of our kids have played with in the NBA - a big with a post game. Would that be a useful change? Our kids have played with and learned a lot from Chandler, and he continues to be a great leader, but haven't they learned most of what they're going to learn from him already? I would think so. But if Monroe worked for us, would we want, need or even be able to re-sign him if we wanted to? Would we be okay going into next offseason having only Williams and Bender under contract at the C spot?

Ultimately, the question is, Who wants centers? Anyone want this one or that one?

I am okay with just buying Monroe out if that's what works best. Chandler will almost certainly have a new mentee if he sticks around another year. If we dealt him, well, no biggie, centers are cheap. So I'm totally flexible on this matter.

You mean we have to trade somebody because or available roster spots? Or another reason?

I still think Chandler is valuable. Learned all they can from him? Doubtful, considering Triano said it wasn't a coincidence our defense played much better against Milwaukee when he returned and directed guys on defense, etc.

I guess there could be some benefit of them playing with a guy with a post game, but I don't know really. It seems like something you'd want to start in training camp. And if we left him on the trading block and/or didn't plan on re-signing him, he just creates another situation where we don't have continuity. I think we need continuity to the extent it's possible. Obviously we eventually need a new PG and C but I'm sure we will address at least one if not both in the draft and they will be more long term solutions, or hopeful solutions.

I think a vet PG is much more needed than a C right now.

I think I want to keep Chandler just for the teaching he does on the floor. If we want to give Moore a look, cut Len. There is no way he is coming back anyway.

I don’t understand this infatuation with a rim protecting big man… Is it because one through four can’t play D ??? I’m ready for some offense from the post… It only opens up the perimeter.

Mc Dreaming needs to wake up and realize there are but a few good offensive centers out the and available. It wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing to have a player traded to the suns and then embrace that move

Thing is... Chandler is not even a rim protector anymore.

He plays defense these days by good positioning and focusing on rebounding, sure he fights team mates for it but still good effort lol.

Chriss is the Suns best rim protector... the only bad thing about that is... he gets faked out easily and he leaves his man down low to try to block from the weak side.... 10 feet away from the rim.... where his man is open down low.

Nothing wrong with weak side blocking... Robinson, Hakeem, Mutombo, Mourning, Ewing, Shaq etc... all elite centers get a couple of blocks from the weak side... but they don't leave their designated area to do so.... 5-6 feet around the rim is OK, as they still cover their man down low.

No way Devin booker sits out. He is a tough player and lives for these nationally televised games.

This is the first stretch since Triano took over where they could get a little practice in, am I right?

Booker improving. He would even be looking better if it were not for constantly trying to bring his team back all by himself in the fourth quarter. In those situations he presses.

I didn't know what it meant either...I remember wondering last year when they did it. I had to check today by clicking on their link to the first year they did it, where it was stated what the acronym stood for. I imagine a lot of people who look at that forum but are not long time regulars there don't know.

Yeah, last year he would have been about as high as that cluster with Irving, Melo and Russell, but a little to the right of them. Movin on up.

Also you can forget any free agents signing here unless they get overpayed. Booker said he got 50 texts from players around the league (i'm sure its not an accurate number) but it does show the general perception of the players is that the people in charge have no idea what the **** they are doing. At best we can hope for another eric gordon situation where we overpay for a guy, but given our record and infatuation with tanking and trading away anyone who should actually be on an NBA court, we aren't getting any high level talent.

Don't buy it. Literally every player just wants to get paid, they could give two craps where they play if they are a free agent. Sure, some may want to compete but that in itself would weed us out more than anything else. This is why you see guys like Allen Crabbe sign with the Nets, Deng signing with the Lakers, George Hill signing with the Kings. Z-Bo could have easily went to a contender for maybe veteran's minimum, but he decided to sign with the Kings(for 12mil). I know those guys are considered over-paid, but so far are front office hasn't really overpaid for mediocre players and has given fair contracts. For the regular journeymen in the NBA, the front office has little to do with where they sign.
They may also consider that the players who left are the ones causing trouble. MoBros with the aggravated assault charges, Bledsoe with the stupid agent. IT complained about playing time, but if I remember correctly, he was happy when we signed him since no other team was willing to give him a contract.

True for most players but for the players in that upper tier, they'll get paid regardless and they'll want to negotiate and play for a front office that treats their players professionally and has vision. Those players you mentioned are clearly not the guys we should be targeting. If "50" players are texting Booker trying to find out WTH our front office is doing then that's a red flag

Chandler could have a 3 week headache to allow us to showcase Monroe.

Hope Len develops the headache instead of Chandler.
