Stupid AGAIN ...as long as the Jazz lack toughness and fortitude ,they will wilt like we have witnessed for the last three years. Talent wins in the NBA but better back that up with a will to win and not get pushed around on your court or any other court.

Talent wins, indeed. This is what we need. You can buy toughness on the scrap heap for pennies. Give me the most talented players and you put on a team of Dahntay Jones, Matt Barnes and Kendrick Perkins and lets see how that one goes.

This team is not losing because we lack toughness. We are losing because we lack talent and we will continue to lose no matter how tough we are unless we add talent.

Up until this point I had considered LAL as the far and away favorites to sign LeBron, but Philly (!!!!) and NY look just as likely if not more likely to get him at this point. I'd go to Philly if I were LeBron.

I think that's a mistake, he'll be making $15 mil per year, not $45 mil for 4 years....... ESPN says $62 mil for 4 years.......

Still a good deal, he's a hell of a player......

The Knicks? They look like a bad fit for him. LeBron is in win-now mode and ring-chasing. Not much to work with in NY except Pringles and Kanter.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

They will give him an additional 15M this season (he was due to make 1.5M this season) in addition to the 4\45M deal. Pretty smart of them--good cap management.

LeBron needs a horse to carry him until it's winning time, so why not a Unicorn...THE unicorn :)

LeBron power rankings:

1. LA
2. Philly

3. NY

4. Cleveland

Not saying he'll stay in Cleveland but I don't see the Knicks as a good place for winning a title. They are still not ready and lack talent outside of Pringles and Kanter. Pringles is looking good, but he's still not at that carry a franchise to a significant record level yet and LeBron doesn't have time to waste.

Right, giving him per year salary of about $15 mil...... Not $11 as the tweet suggests.....

Exactly..... Knicks could be very good in 3 years....... They're not winning anything next year, even with LeBron......

The 15M he will get this season still count as part of his current (rookie) contract, making his new contract worth around 11M.

Per ESPN

"Philadelphia 76ers forward Robert Covington is finalizing a four-year, $62 million contract extension, league sources told ESPN."

ESPN again:

"The deal will include a $15 million renegotiation bump on Covington's $1.57 million salary this season, plus an additional four years that will keep Covington under contract through the 2021-22 season."

Well, not exactly. It depends how much we want to emphasize the total amount the Sixers will spend. Are they going to spend a total of 62M? Yes. Will the new contract be worth 62M? No. It will be worth 45M.

Well, after reading the ESPN insider article, which can be found here:

http://www.espn.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/21409760/what-robert-covington-new-deal-means-sixers-future-nba

I'm obviously wrong, and it's an even better deal for the Sixers than I thought......

Now that they've given Covington his contract, I don't think they have the money to give him? Or am I mistaken?

I'm not sure. I didn't see the Covington deal before I posted this comment. Either way, I figure they are close enough where they can move some pieces for LeBron. I feel that LeBron is at a point in his career where he will want to finish out his legacy mentoring a young player. Not just to help him in his later years, but to carry on the brand. Ben Simmons would probably be his first choice to do that.

I don't know if I was blinded by saltiness of the loss of Hayward to them... I wanted them to fail so much that I convinced myself that they will. And now they are rolling over the league and they don't even have Hayward playing. I still think what they are doing is showing some signs of unsustainability (opponent shooting %) but in the big picture they will be much better than what I thought they will be. Oh well... I will eat that crow.

Also, Brad Stevens might be an amazing coach too.
